Winn-Dixie — Local services in Fort Myers

I really don't like writing bad reviews but I really need to get this bad experience off my chest. I hope that HQ read this review and correct the problem in this store. I have applied to work in this store several times with no luck. Finally I was able to speak to the Customer Service Manager in regards of an application that I submitted I was clear and honest with him about my work availability. The manager said that he was able to work with me in regards to my availability. I am only available to work Sunday to Thursday but not Friday sundown until Saturday sundown due to my religion I observed the Sabbath, he said he was fine with that and told me to call him that same day at 3pm enough time to review my application. When he reviewed my application he said over the phone that unfortunately my availability is unacceptable and I can try to reapply with availability to work Saturday and Sunday. I questioned him about what he said when I was there in person he said that this decision was made by HQ. I felt that what he said was a lie and he said good luck on your job search and hung up on me, wow if Winn Dixie is hiring liars and discriminative people to manage this specific store then they need to really make conscious decisions when hiring because this is obviously discrimination on the basis of religion. I cannot believe it this made me feel like never shopping here again and I don't shop here anymore because now I know how some employees really feel about respecting others religion when it comes to working there. Edit: Since their remodel all staff have been helpful. Seems they have been hiring better employees or have had them properly trained. Lately every experience there is great. I shop here all the time and employees are happy to help. Have nothing but great things to say. Change from 4 stars to 5. My favorite Winn Dixie in Fort Myers.

Original: I like coming here rather than Publix because Winn Dixie seems to have a fresher/better looking meat selection. The main thing is their customer service is terrible here, be prepared to not ask employees any questions for they never know the answer, or do not offer help. When checking out it is obvious that they are understaffed as they usually only have 3 registers open with lines of 5-7 customers in each creating a crowded check out area.
