My daughter has a medical condition that makes heat very hard on her...our cars heat went out while I was in doctor's and she was getting overheated....she can't sweat so the heat traps in her body and can cause her to pass out and in worse cases have a heat stroke....she figured that because this place looked like a diner she could go in and sit down and order a water and cool off so she'd be okay.....upon doing so the person working (assuming was the owner, cannot be sure though), was rude to her not going to lie. By what my daughter told me once she sat down, he came up to her with a 'what are you doing' expression that she took as kinda rude...and, he asked if he could help her in a short way and she told him she just needed to sit down and cool off from the heat....from what she said happened he basically told her it was rude to just come in and sit down without asking first and that he would've liked it if she asked basically but in a annoyed way....in her head she just knew she felt like she was going to pass out and needed air immediately and to sit down in the air to cool her down as fast as possible....she felt guilty about not asking but she assumed given it looked like a diner she'd be okay to sit herself in an emergent case to cool down....however, that wasn't the case and he had walked away when she mentioned she'd buy something and so after she cooled down she went and baught a drink....in doing so she apologized to him and explained she has a medical condition that causes her not to sweat so she gets over heated and can pass out and needed to sit and cool down as fast as possible and didn't think to ask....she said he had said he understands medical emergencies but he still basically would've liked her to ask to sit down first because it was rude not to....(medical condition is Lamellar ichthyosis if curious). Now, this maybe the protective mom in me but, I found the whole situation ridiculous....I figure people would be more kind in this world to not be so dismissive over a very clear medical condition (her condition is with her skin its so dry and thick it blocks her sweat glands causing hest to trap, her face gets apple red in process of overheating and she struggles to breathe too during so, so it's not like it wasn't an evident thing she has a medical condition and was struggling)...to me it's just like if it were an elderly person having a heart attack not able to speak who came in would the person be just as rude and tell them they should've asked before coming in for help during a medical emergency...Again, could be the mama bear in me but I just found this situation ridiculous especially because she was on the brink of tears explaining it to me cause he was rude and she felt so bad, i told her she shouldnt because people should be more aware of medical emergencies even small businesses and should be more kind and helpful.. she's had one time where she was passing out at a dollar tree because of heat outside on her own and had to go to ER in an ambulance.... All the employees noticed immediately and was extremely helpful and kind....I don't know what else to say but that I think people could/and should do better for other...
