Attended a poetry and prose reading by Dr. Christian Gerard, Professor of English at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith, who read lines from his recent poems in which he reflects on how his father’s love of the transformative nature of building and repairing hot rods with his father during during his youth in the ‘70’s and 80’s. This compilation of poems reveal a uniquely intimate father-son relationship that was grounded in the love for one another that is reiterated in the camaraderie developed among members of local, state and national auto-enthusiast groups from which Gerard reflects on the powerful creative force of sharing one’s passion for auto mechanics that transcends generational barriers.
