An awesome experience!
Three weeks ago, my husband and I went to Country Meat Market to buy grass-fed meat for a 3-month supply, which is what we have been doing for a while now. Our plans changed when we ran into the owner, Lou Chadwick, who mentioned that he could do a custom-made deal for our family for a 12-month supply which would give us a huge discount. Initially I was skeptical, and even concerned that my husband seemed taken with the idea. However, when Lou took time to sit down with us and discussed our family consumption of meat etc, we decided to give this a try.
Lou then took us to the storage area, showed us the three quarters of the beef we would get together with the extra chicken, pork, lamb and the bacon he would give us as part of the discount. I come from Australia, and I have been missing the Australian Lamb for more than two years, when Lou found this out he immediately said he could get us Australian Lamb. I jumped for joy! However, he said I will have to wait for a couple of days so he could order it in. We agreed to go back on Friday that week to pick up the lamb. We then watched the whole process of the weighing of the beef, cutting of the meat and participated in the labeling of the parcels they made. The staff was so efficient and fun to be with, and Lou was very much a part of the team. In fact, this was my first experience in this kind of setting, I found it quite interesting. I must also mention Lou's free gift of the Char Grill that he gave us with the deal, that we use almost every other day in enjoying the best meat.
Well, it was when we came home and stacked the meat in the freezer that we realized we did not have room for the lamb. So we called Lou and he immediately wanted to send his staff with a brand new freezer so we had enough room for the lamb, but we declined as we did not think it was right to hassle him or his staff. However, the following morning when we checked the meat it was still soft, and so I panicked and rang Lou, who then assured us that it was quite normal for the meat to take a couple of days to freeze in that large quantity, but he suggested that if I was concerned that we accept his offer of loaning us a brand new freezer to split the meat into two freezers enabling better air circulation. His staff delivered the brand new freezer within the hour, and we transferred some of the meat into it.
We just dropped in today to pick up the best Australian lamb (50lbs), saw a full size lamb weighed, cut into chops, stew meat, ribs and shanks, exactly the way I wanted it. Most of all, what blessed our hearts, is the way Lou delights in doing all this for us. He is an incredible businessman, a unique and rare one who truly values his customers.
The least we can do for Lou, and his wonderful staff, is to share our delightful experience with the rest of the community, so that you too can find out for yourself.
Thank you, and well done Lou. Keep it up for always!!!!

Read moreI came here to get a budget pack. It was $160 for:
4lbs NY strip steaks, 5lbs pork chops 4lbs beef roast 4lbs ground beef Breakfast sausage 5lbs chicken breast 2 pounds of veggies
I was curious about the weight since they did not weigh anything I front of me, I asked, and they said they weighed it on the scale in the back. Okay. No problem. But kind of weird.
I get home and find that most of the meat is frozen, not fresh. Not what I was expecting since I wanted to come here to get meat that wasn't overly processed. But maybe they processed it yesterday and decided to freeze it ahead of time? Okay... not ideal, but whatever.
When I got home I decided to weigh everything, since I was not allowed to watch them weigh it in store here is what I got:
4lbs NY strip steak (no issues) 5 lbs pork chops (again, no issues) 2 lbs of beef roast (it was supposed to be 4) 5 lbs of ground beef (it was suppsed to be 4, so, not complaining, I guess?) 4lbs of chicken (it was supposed to be 5)
So, overall, I got half the beef roast I was supposed to get, and a pound less of chicken but they gave me an extra pound of ground beef. I don't really consider this a good deal because no matter which way you write it down, they shorted me meat in a time where groceries are super expensive. I came here as a recommendation of a customer of theirs who has been coming here for a long time. After telling her my experience, so is now starting to wonder the weight of her purchases since she normally takes their word for it. She said she will start weighing them when she gets home. And for me? Since it was my first time here, I don't see...

My brother and I have discussed that a few times, but because 1) it’s somewhat expensive, 2) we don’t have that much freezer space, and 3) we don’t eat all that much beef - it’s never happened.
So this week my dad (94) wanted to bless us with some beef. He’d seen the ads CMM places in the newspaper every weekend.
The staff was very helpful and friendly. Angela helped me with our order. We met Lou - the owner - who explained some options and programs where their meats are more along wholesale prices. I’ll definitely be looking into that in the future!
I called ahead to make sure we were headed to the right location (my dad wasn’t sure about the name of the business). They added our name to the wait list, but when we arrived there was no problem getting assistance. They do have a steady amount of business.
While we shopped a la cart, they had 12 different “packages” available - from “Apartment” size to a half side of beef. If you choose one of those, you can’t make any substitutions.
We got a mix of meats: ribeye, brisket, chicken, sausage, pork. They also have frozen veggies and an assortment of rubs and spices.
All in all - it was a fun experience. This is how grocery shopping should be, and once was - back before big. Box stores and prepackaged goods. The meats looked fantastic, and I can’t wait to fire up the grill this weekend. (Or maybe...
