I recently stayed at a Pocono Log Cabin rental with my wife and friends for a weekend getaway. There are not a lot of places to go or things to do with covid19 going on, so we thought isolating with a few of us would be relaxing. We ran into a few issues which the owners of the cabin, Lance & Lisa, didn’t seem to care much about.
To access the cabin you must drive on a dirt road. It had snowed and iced over recently and there was no rock salt left for us to use on the deck to get in the front door or to put on the driveway. This made getting to and from the house pretty dangerous. The first day there we even called the owners to ask if they had rock salt... we were told they’d bring us some that day. They didn’t and we didn’t hear from them again. Instead, we pushed cars up the driveway ourselves to get traction. I know weather is unpredictable... but to not have even a shovel or salt for guests to use at a house in the mountains seems pretty unprepared to me.
Upon arriving, the door code given to unlock the key as well as the address to the house were wrong... finding the correct house wasn’t easy when we had the wrong address. It was under 20 degrees outside, so sitting at the front door with the wrong code wasn’t a great way to start our relaxing weekend. We had to call lance and lisa. They gave us the correct address and code, but didn’t apologize for the inconvenience or anything... sort of frustrating...
Some of us used the hot tub outside the first night around 8pm. It was dark and the hot tub lit up different colors. The next afternoon we went to use it and saw it in daylight. It was green water and smelled off, like sour in a way. After some research, online said it likely didn’t have enough chemicals put it. To think we were in that the previous night was pretty gross, but we ignored it and figured it was too cold to be outside anyway. Oh, and the owners withheld $200.00 of our security deposit for the discoloring claiming one of our guests “must have had an accident”. We are all 28-30 year old working professionals, not high school or college partiers. You’d think after we tried to explain that the tub was like that for the weekend they’d understand, but we’re pretty rude about the whole thing.
The smoke alarm in the main room was going off for hours. We had to drive to the local market on a Saturday night just to buy and replace a battery for it. Something I would think is tested between guests.
Overall the house was fine... some tuneups would be nice to keep the place up to date since I feel we payed on the upper end of comparable houses. The furniture and beds seemed more outdated in person than in the photos online. The pool table had duct tape replacing where the pockets should be. And, the temperature in the house ranged from way to cold to way to warm when we got alittle fire going on the indoor fireplace.
For the price and the headache of being accused of things, given false info, etc... I would not...
Read moreMy fiancé and I recently planned one of our best friends bachelor party at the Poconos Log Cabin. From the moment that we started reaching out to Lisa and Lance while we were inquiring about the cabin we felt very accommodated. Lisa and Lance were very informative in all the details of the weekend. She referred us to a number of other companies that they have worked with in the past for the bachelor party to do various activities. While we were debating which cabin to rent I spoke with Lisa and she walked me through each of the options that the cabin had. We chose the River Lodge Cabin. While we were looking online at the pictures we knew that was the right choice for the weekend. The bachelor shared with my fiancé and I his thoughts about the cabin once we surprised him with it. From the groom himself “ I loved it!! I would say everything was perfect!! It was great I would love to go back to that cabin!!! It was spacious and had room for everyone!!”. My fiancé said that the cabin was very large and very spacious. Everyone was able to have their own space and not feel like they were on top of each other. People were able to relax on one floor while another floor was doing various activities within the house. While the boys were on their bachelor party we were able to coordinate a few activities with Lisa and Lance. They helped us to organize the bourbon and cigar night for the guys. That was a big hit! Then we also coordinated a breakfast on Saturday morning that was catered to the house & someone came to cook that morning. Lisa and Lance were on top of everything. They gave us more than enough information about all the details of the cabin that the boys were fully prepared on what they needed to bring vs what the cabin already included. We highly recommend that you check out the Poconos Log Cabin for your upcoming events. The cabin was centrally located and tucked away in the woods. The boys felt that it was very private and nice to just escape the world for the weekend. All the boys came back with a smile on their face from a great weekend.
I shared the information with the grooms future wife which is another one of our best friends & her and I both said we wish we were going to check out the cabin because it looked like a lot of fun!

Read moreI stayed at the Big Boulder Cabin a few weeks ago for my birthday weekend. The people from Poconos Rental are the best! They are very responsive and helpful in so many ways! As for whoever owns the house and does the cleaning that’s a whole other story. Mind you I never write reviews but my friends said they would if I didn’t and I think mine would be a little nicer :)
When we arrived to the house there was someone draining out our hot tub (mind you all we kept saying the whole drive there was “Can’t wait to go straight into the hot tub when we get there!”) My boyfriend went over by him and he explained he was cleaning it and then going to re fill it. Cleaning and refilling it now??? Found it extremely odd . By the time the hot tub filled up and was warm enough to go in it wasn’t until the NEXT DAY! So there goes the first day with no hot tub . Which was basically the MAIN reason we wanted that cabin was for the HOT TUB .
As for the house , the place def needed a little TLC/UPDATE . Broken closet doors ,The carpets looked filthy! My friend dropped her earring under the couch ... we moved it so she can grab it and there was candy wrappers , SOMEONES DIRTY SOCKS , food and crumbs!! I was in total shock . How do you not move the couch to clean? Especially having different people in and out of your rental? Weird.
The shower on the first floor clogged so all the guest that were staying on that floor had to use the master shower in my room upstairs or go to the basement shower . I texted the owner but she stated she had no one to come fix it .
We decided to put on a pot of coffee .. NOPE coffee machine was broke. The radio they had for the house was a CD player and the cord was for the phones made 15 years ago. Luckily someone brought a speaker. The Air hockey table in the basement we had to shut off because the smell that was coming out from the air smelled like something rotten . The amount of rules this house had I expected something totally different!
Thank god I was with a good group and we made the best of it ! If you’re looking for a clean feeling cabin I would look somewhere else . I’m sure Poconos Rentals have...
