I will start that I love Vindeket. I've been going and donating to Vindeket for 2 1/2 years. However, my family has never been treated as disrespectfully as we were today by one volunteer. A female at 9:30 a.m. in charge of the fridge/ freezer section on Thursday 9/11/2025 was very controlling. She was standing near her full cart of different products not putting anything new out in the fridge/freezer section when there was plenty of space still on the shelves. Got mad at my child when we were still in that section for grabbing an item a fridge door behind us (there was only one other person behind us who had passed on that item already.) Once we started turning the corner was when she started unloading her cart of items. We tried to grab a new item put out in a freezer, still no one else behind us getting items and was rudely told "one way market, you can't have that". Again, we've been going for 2 1/2 years and have never been targeted out like this before. I don't know if it's our family of 6 we feed and she wants to control us from getting less on our trips, our bi-racial family dynamic, or if it was just an off day filled with extra control but I struggled wanting to donate as much as I did (I still donated the amount I brought for today but she made it harder for me to have that want). I'm extremely disappointed with her today. With all that said, I'll still be back and choose to treat her with kindness however she chooses to...
Read moreVindeket is another gem that Fort Collins offers. I initially started coming weekly as a customer and then wanted to be a bigger part of the mission and have since volunteered. The passion behind this mission and the community response is amazing. Yes, there is imperfect produce, yes there is expired food. But imperfect and expired are not synonymous with bad or dangerous. As a society we have this false perception of what is good and bad based on arbitrary rules. These rules are for the profit of the industries and not for the benefit of us or Mother Earth.
Vindeket does not fall trap to those false perceptions and instead embraces the misfits, the bruised but not broken, the old but not dead.
Vindeket brings back the feeling of buying a dollar store surprise grab bag as a child. I never knew what goodies I was going to get until I opened the bag, just like at vindy, I never know what I’m going to get until I’m there because what is donated changes weekly. Who doesn’t love a good surprise?
Vindeket is one way that any northern coloradoan can help to build a better world, protect our environment, and benefit themselves in the mean time!
Thank you Nathan for your vision and to all those that have helped make this wonderful food rescue possible. And thank you for allowing me to be...
Read moreWhat a fun place to go. I do the farmers market at foothills Mall and someone came to me asking for damaged goods or product that they could give away at Vindeket foods.
Be prepared to wait in line and be patient. There’s a lot of amazing volunteers making this place happen. Don’t go in looking for perfect items, these are items that might be a little past their date or damaged but they’re still good. You never know what you’re going to get so it’s a bit of a treasure hunt. You pick and choose what you want and it’s different each time because they pick up from stores who are clearance out items or donating them because they are close or pass to sell by date.
Dress warmly if it’s cold outside because you will probably have to wait in line. Don’t park in any of the parking lots because they will tow there’s free parking further down...
