I contracted Alderfer Glass to install a glass shower enclosure for our bathroom remodel. Their employee came out to measure when tilework was complete and then scheduled an install date. On the date of install (3 weeks LATER), their employee stated the tile was not sloped properly and should be fixed prior to install. I asked why this was not pointed out at the original visit so it could've been remedied prior to install date. I was given no reason. They then left and said to call when the tile contractor fixed the slope for the floor. They made no mention of potential additional fees or any other information. On the day they finally installed, I was presented with a bill (we were now weeks behind schedule) which I wrote a check and gave to installers noting paid in full. Two months later I receive an additional bill for the rescheduling of install. I made numerous phone calls and emails to different personnel and owners of the company to get this charge removed from my account as it was never agreed to or even mentioned at any point (even at job completion). The owners were incredibly rude - they said they would not remove the charge because keeping it on my account even though I wasn't going to pay it would void my warranty and that was their goal. I have no idea how any company would do business like that. The bill was for $250 which was less than 10% of the contracted job that I paid in full. This company is so worthless and doesn't take pride in their work they fraudulently bill to avoid backing their warranty. I would never not pay a bill that was owed, so I continued for the past 6 months to try to resolve this issue with them directly and then finally got the Dept of Consumer Protection involved to mediate. There was in fact no change order which goes against the Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act so I was fully just in not paying their fraudulent invoice. They continued to offer to remove the charge if they could void my warranty (which only has 5 months left on it at this point). After back and forth with the Consumer Investigator of County of Bucks - Alderfer has removed the charge and reinstated my warranty. I want to warn any consumer willing to do business with them of their shady practices, fraudulent billing practices, horrendous customer service, and unwillingness to warranty their own work. Their pricing is basically spot on with other competitors - so do yourself a favor and...
Read moreAlderfer Glass saved me from 3 months of aggravation with Safe Light!
After a rock cracked my windshield (9/17/21), my insurance company forwarded me to Safe Light Auto-they needed to order the windshield for my 2020 Lexus and it could take a few weeks due to supply chain issues. Okay, no problem; sounded reasonable. So I waited .. and waited.. I heard nothing from Safe Light in the following 6 weeks so I called them. First, they couldn't find my claim (really?). Then after another few weeks of 'radio silence', I called them again; 'Oh they didn't have my correct VIN to order the windshield (what?). Fine - here's my VIN (AGAIN). THEN another few weeks of trying to speak with a human at the Norristown, PA shop I called my insurance agent. By this time I had made over 12 phone calls, and my windshield had been cracked for almost 3 months. My agent got involved and I received a phone call from a Safe Light Auto representative saying, 'OH, yes. We just received approval to order your windshield. (WHAT??) At that point I told my agent I wanted to deal with a privately owned glass shop. ENTER Alderfer Glass. I spoke with them on 12/16/21 ..my new windshield was installed perfectly on 12/27/21!! Save yourself the aggravation and INSIST on Alderfer! They...
Read moreIncredibly unsatisfied with this company. Showed up earlier than stated and insisted on starting work inside my apartment while I was still getting ready for work. When I came home at the end of the day, both front and rear doors were left wide open; not just unlocked but actually standing wide open. Lights and ceiling fan left running all day inside. Dust and debris left laying on the floor around all the replaced windows (bits of wood and lots of dust). One set of blinds not reinstalled, they did the others, but just decided to leave one undone. But worst of all was the large chunks of broken glass left lying under my desk by one of the windows. Large chunks of clearly visible broken glass, where I place my bare feet when I'm trying to relax at home. Not to mention the small slivers that are harder to see and just sliced up my toe. It would be nice if they could clean up after themselves just a little bit, and if there was broken glass, at least warn me about it!
Only positive is that the new windows are actually nice and...
