This is first time I have used this type of service before and was pleasantly surprised. I have been looking to go for more local meat and try to avoid corpo mystery beef and Cottonwood Ranch was the place I started.

I’ve been very impressed so far. First off the ordering has been greatly simplified for someone, like me, who does not know all the cuts of beef and other things that come along with ordering part of a cow.

The order form that Cottonwood created was great. It answered all of the lingering questions I had about what cuts to get, what should be steaks and what should be roasts. They even get down to the thickness of the cuts and how many pounds you want your ground beef packaged in.

The butcher they are partnered with is also good. The packaging is individually wrapped and marked with the cut of beef.

Cottonwood’s customer service is top notch. After the initial purchase Paul will contact you and check if you have any questions. He will also check back with you around the middle of your wait time for your partial cow order, if you happen to have any follow up questions.

Cottonwood will also deliver in certain areas. We had the delivery done and it was great. Paul helped unload the meat into our house.

And as for the beef itself. I have to say it is some of the best I’ve had so far. I’ve cooked the shanks and about 6 lbs of the ground beef. All have been excellent and I do have to say it is some of the best tasting ground beef I’ve had. Way better than the corpo beef you get at the supermarket.

I discovered Cotton Wood Ranch while searching for local beef in my area. Previously, I had purchased an eighth of a cow from a farm in a neighboring state. While it was good, I realized I wouldn't be repurchasing from there. So, I decided to try Cotton Wood Ranch since I had been following them for a while, and I'm glad I did.

After contacting Paul multiple times and asking numerous questions about how the cattle are raised, their grazing practices, their health, and the ordering process, I decided to purchase a quarter of a cow at an extremely reasonable rate. There was a bit of a wait, which is expected with special orders, but it was faster than I anticipated, and the delivery was excellent.

I was excited to try the beef, and I wanted to wait until I had sampled a bit of everything before writing this review. I can honestly say it is the best beef I have had in a long time. It reminds me of my childhood when my grandparents would slaughter their steer. Cotton Wood Ranch beef is incredibly tender, moist, and flavorful. The beer mash supplement in the cattle’s diet makes a noticeable difference. I can sear a steak in my cast iron pan, and it comes out tender and bursting with flavor.
