I don’t typically leave reviews but we were brought here by the good reviews and had a negative experience. My wife and I are former diner owners and like to support local small businesses but this restaurant is poorly run.
The entire restaurant is dirty. We were told we could sit where we wanted so I chose the least dirty unwiped table. Despite being a small restaurant, it took unusually long to get waited on. The wait staff were friendly but inattentive. We didn’t get our drinks until long after we ordered. They messed up our order and failed to bring an entire meal. We had to get up ourselves and find the silverware and ketchup. The food was cold and poorly prepared. There wasn’t even enough meat in patty melt to have with each bite, meaning some bites were just bun.
The bathrooms are equally dirty as the dining room and, according to my wife, there were no paper towels to dry your hands.
Not the fault of the staff but my family had to sit next to a foul mouth group with a baby. I typically would have asked them to ease up on the language especially since it is such a small diner but I noticed the patron had a gun in the small of his back (not holstered just in his waist band). I didn’t want to take the risk of getting into a confrontation. Also, I am fine with open carry but usually open carry gun owners will behave responsibly as to not give a bad impression. After that group left, another patron next to us started playing music on his phone even though there was music over the speakers. Neither of these are the fault of the staff but this just added to the poor atmosphere.
We can overlook a lot of things if the food is good but the wait staff is bad or vice versa. We get it. Finding good help is hard. But the entire experience here was bad. This is the first time I didn’t leave a tip in 12 years. I hope they will take this criticism and turn it around because we want to see more small businesses take pride in their work...
Read moreHave been here several times, the food is always tasty. They have a southern kick to their food, the Honey Dipped Chicken being the best on the menu. It is hand-breaded at the Knotty Pine, fried to a perfect crisp on the outside, while being juicy and tender on the inside. You can't go wrong with a side of green beans either, flavorful ham ties it all together. You are able to smoke inside, and if it is crowded- some may have some trouble with the cloud, but usually it is not an issue. The waitresses are not the most personable, and do not expect them to come back and check on you more than once. Depending on who is working, ordering drinks from the bar isn't always the best idea. Some seem to be more experienced bartenders than others, and it shows in the quality of the drinks. The cooks are kind and easy-going, even more pleasant to speak to than the waitresses. I would recommend Knotty Pine for others looking for a delicious old fashioned meal at a...
Read moreI decided to check this place out while in town finding it on Google Maps. I ended up unknowingly walking in almost at closing time, but the waitress was genuinely okay with me coming in at the last moment and insisted on me staying to eat. I had a wonderful dining experience and the food was good. I had a great hamburger sub with chips. Service was five-star exceptional as the lady told me she had been there for 25 years and loved her job. It is really great to receive such wonderful service still in this current day and time when many places I have been are quick to rush you out the door or would not have waited on me at all. I had an opportunity to correct their hours on Google Maps so I won't show up at closing time again. I will definitely come back again when in the area and would encourage others too as well as this is a charming hole in the wall type restaurant worth going to where fantastic service makes it an even...
