Dollar General — Local services in Gainesville

This store used to be very good. I used to prefer going there than taking the time to hit the larger stores. But now it's overcrowded and filthy. They got rid of the good, useful items and carry a bunch of meaningless junk that belongs in a yardsale. (I have to order basics at Amazon now that I used to rely on DG to provide.) The aisles have been made so narrow you can barely get around. They are always carts and boxes of junk that needs to be stocked, but just sits in the way. Also, they refuse to hire enough people, so you end up standing at the counter in long lines waiting for someone to finally show up. They can't even keep the people they hire. I can't imagine how bad it must be to work there, as the employees are always harried and unhappy. Speaking of the counter ... they got rid of the nice checkouts they had for years. Now you have to empty your cart onto a tiny opening in front of the cashier. You have to stand there doing it because there is zero space to work with and you have to wait for the cashier to take things off so you can load more. All this is while you are bending over your cart, with your back screaming, as you try to lob things over the cart to the tiny counter. Oh, speaking of carts! They no longer keep carts inside the store. They are outside, and you have to struggle to get the carts through the door. This is not easy. The doors are heavy, and the sidewalk is narrow. You have to deal with this going in and going out. If you are lucky, another customer will come along and help you. So, to sum it up ... this Dollar General in Gainesville, MO is terrible. It was very good for years. But for the past few years it had degenerated in to a nightmare. I get upset and angry everything I have to go there. I want back the excellent store that...

They don't try have stuff all the time. They run out of food and then don't have it for weeks even months later.
