Training at ZEN FITNESS is nothing but amazing! I have been training with Chase Parker at Zen Fitness for about a year and a half now. I started in March 2013. I went from 13% body fat to 6% body fat! I originally came to Zen Fitness with the goal of getting trimmed down and learning more about the correct way to lift weights, including the many different things I can do to gain strength without weights. I also knew that I wanted to start running (which I despised initially!). Chase helped me perfect my form and learn different workouts to strengthen my running. I have never done anything athletic in my life. I have a heart condition known as Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome (WPW), which was initially thought to be induced by adrenalin. Therefore, I wasn’t allowed to do anything very active growing up. Now that doctors know WPW is not adrenalin induced, I wanted to test my athletic skills and become a more healthy and fit individual. If you are looking for a trainer to challenge you, push you past what you personally thought was possible and still have fun doing so, you need to train here!! I specifically recommend Chase Parker! He was very quick to learn my strengths and know when and where to push me harder. I did not want to slack, and he certainly won’t let you! Beyond going from one technique to the next during a workout, Chase is great at engaging in conversation and making the workout fun. I appreciate that he is interested in helping me advance, but also learning about who I am. I truly enjoy and appreciate that he is not only my trainer, but has become a genuine friend.
I am now more fit then I have ever been in my life. My heart is in amazing shape with the lowest resting heart rate I have ever had. I have become very competitive in running and am usually at the top of my age group, with a 5K PR of 21:45 and a half marathon PR of 1:49:36. I have learned to thoroughly enjoy working out and running, thanks to Zen Fitness. I owe all my success to Chase Parker. He has brought me further than I could have ever imagined. On another note, I have always struggled with dyslexia and problems focusing in school. I have noticed that getting fit, training, exercising, and eating better through Zen Fitness, have all aided in increasing my focus and allowing me to memorize and learn faster. For example, studying for an intense exam in my PhD studies would normally take weeks of preparation and lots of anxiety. I can now be comfortable and confident in my exams within and easy three day period, memorize information quicker, and my focus is significantly better.
Zen Fitness trainers are not only knowledgeable about training techniques, but also very knowledgeable in the importance of nutrition. Chase will take the time to go shopping with me to point out foods and help me learn what to look for in a food label, this has been another great benefit of Zen Fitness! Chase is always asking me what my diet has been like or what my dinner plans are to help keep me on track. The entire staff are friendly and I always love the warm welcome as soon as I walk in the door. I also thoroughly enjoy the client gatherings such as the iron chef cook-offs! About 10 years ago I experienced a major medical incident which brought my life as an athlete to abruptly end. I subsequently gained over 60 pounds and was unable to work out. Over the last 2 years, I began a process of reclaiming my health and was able to drop about 45 pounds mostly by cleaning up my eating, however, my weight plateaued, and I felt somewhat stuck. After conducting an internet search of area fitness studios, I came upon Zen Fitness, and followed a link at the bottom of their page to Instagram, and there began to find out about Carly. After mulling it over for about 3 months, I took the dive and sent a message to inquire about training packages. I was extremely nervous about being judged, not being able to complete the exercises, and the pressure to sign up for some packages. I knew after my first appointment that I had taken the right step. The gym is clean and is staffed by a community of great people who promote healthy eating (vegan) lifestyle. Carly does a great job at reading non-verbal cues and knows when to push a little bit more as well as knowing when to take a break. I have been in the gym for about 2 months now, he asked me if I noticed any differences and it took me a while to formulate a response. I’m a return customer from a few years back and Zen Fitness always gets me great results. I had a list to check off this year: get off the couch and workout consistently. And oh yeah---I needed to get ready for ski season 2020! So, I called up Zen Fitness to get started. I just wish I would have done it sooner. All the trainers are kind and friendly and the gym is a comfortable and supportive environment.
I’ve been working with Randy! Yay! He’s attentive, flexible, and a great teacher. I never knew the importance and challenge of stability training before. Having that as part of my fitness program has given me the best foundation for my strength goals, recovering from an ankle sprain, and preventing injury in my new fitness journey.
Can I tell you what I can do now? Other than being able to do 80+ full push-ups in a workout (sometimes on a bosu or 2 medicine balls), I have arm muscles to brag to my husband lol, I’m happier, and I’m more curious than afraid of challenges.
I learned that Fear will only keep you from the best surprise you didn’t know you can have-–to see how strong you really are. And these guys helped me get there. Definitely recommend checking out Zen Fitness!
