That Bar and Table — Restaurant in Gainesville

Saw fantastic reviews of this place while visiting friends in Gainesville, and they served the Impossible Burger! When we got there the first thing I noticed was a sign on the door stating they serve and do not discriminate against any race, sex, sexual orientation, country of origin, religion, etc., this seemed odd to boast since it's the law. Regardless, we went in and sat down, ordering sweet tea for both my wife and I. The tea not only wasn't sweet whatsoever, it didn't even taste like unsweetened tea, just like sucking tea bag with water on it. We both order the Impossible Burger with vegan cheese, when we got it we were disappointed. We had previously had the burger at Wahlburgers in NC, and we're absolutely floored by the flavor, and freshness of what tasted like a tender, thick, steak burger. This burger looked like it was a flat, crispy, discount vege burger. After taking the firstly few bites I began to realize the toppings and condiments were the only moist part of the burger. The toasted bun even seemed less dry than the burger. The fries were even extremely dry and stale. We were both extremely dissapointed, especially the fact that out friends were treating us to a meal and dropped $60, on the four of us to have lunch. They didn't finish their plates. Not only was it lunch time it was not busy in the restaurant, we were the second group of people and it look while to get our orders, for a burger place to take a long time to serve left over, stale seeming dishes at the price of ~$14 each was a large let down. I would recommend anyone to go across the parking lot to Subway or the deli at Publix right in the same plaza to get something leagues ahead of whatever you plan on getting here. Really try to like this place.. Be careful what you order...was served raw chicken and other items we have been disappointed with many times. Husband sick from chicken and with Cuban sandwich too much mustard and he is a fellow chef! Food overall not good, or special at all as priced. We know it is truly hard to find good help these days. The bar tender girl Katie (we believe we overheard her name) is very cold and rude, and even discriminating as our friends have noticed too. Others very nice and inviting, especially Elaine, she's Awesome!!! As well as Hailey! Wish food was better.. too many other choices in town to go here again! Stopped by for a chance to redeem and was harassed by the same girl, she actually comes up with a rude tone in an attacking manner, I kindly said I'm being served by someone else but she insisted on harassment and even telling me to take it outside(are you kidding if that isn't a treat then what is) she did not want me to take it outside that's for sure! We feel sorry for her lack of understanding and professionalism, I can't help but think she must be profiling or tryingto prove something with her job, however she was sent to the back thankfully by her leadership she was disturbing other customers... it's sad her ego and a true review was more important than the fellow customers. Lack of communication causes this all.. We've eaten here twice now. The first time obviously left a good enough impression that we came back again. We were seated right away, food was good, our server was attentive. Tonight we came back again for a second visit with family. There was 20 minute wait due to some larger parties already being in the restaurant- that's fine, totally understandable. However after we were seated, our server took forever to come over to even address the table and take our drink order. After she took our drink order, it took an additional 30 minutes for her to even come back to take our food order. By the time our food arrived, half the table was out of drinks which were never refilled. Half of our table's food came out almost 10 minutes before the other half of the table's food- we were not a large group. We waited another 20 minutes after asking for the check. Overall our meal took almost 2 hours from the time we saw down. I do want to note that the hostess was doing a phenomenal job, a very sweet young girl. You could tell she had lots of responsibilities but she was multitasking very well and always kept a smiling face. I wish I caught her name so she could have her kudos.
