I loved upper crust and majority of the pastries they have to offer but unfortunately I can no longer patron this shop anymore due to one of your employees. I ate at another local restaurant today and this long blonde haired woman, who might Iād say had too much to drink, began to berate and cause a scene to one of the servers working there today because he decided he was no longer comfortable serving her more alcohol. Usually I try to mind my own business however this woman made me have such an unpleasant experience while I was trying to enjoy my breakfast. Her and the man she was with began yelling at both the manager and the server right next to my table! All because they did not feel comfortable over serving and were looking out for her (They are WELL within their rights to do this. In fact it is illegal to serve alcohol beyond oneās limit) During this whole debacle she mentioned might I say LOUD and CLEAR that SHE works at upper crust and would never treat a customer this way. Excuse me? I work in retail and I would NEVER treat another retail worker that way! The kicker is when she and that āgentlemanā walked out the door he stuck his head through the door and yelled throughout the whole restaurant āI bet you take multiple di*ks in your mouthā I was appalled especially with this breakfast restaurant being family oriented. There were multiple children in the building. The way this so called āworkerā treats other customer service people is absolutely disgusting and it shines a horrible light on this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSince moving to Gainesville my family and I visit Petit Uppercrust and Uppercrust at least a couple of times per month. They offer by far some of the best coffee and definitely the best pastries in Gainesville, FL. I have been having some issues with Petit Uppercrust, though, the past 4 or so visits. When we go, there is usually a girl of Asian decent working at the counter. She is neither courteous nor polite. The first couple of times I let it go giving her the benefit of the doubt but it has continued. She is regularly rude and impolite and has become visibly irritated on two separate occasions when we have requested to "eat in." Today was especially bad. A customer asked for ice water and she told her there was a pitcher in the corner. The pitcher was not designed to pour ice, just cold water. The customer clarified that she wanted ice water and the cashier just told her again to get it from the pitcher. She did not offer the customer ice and as a result the customer reached into the communal water pitcher with her bare hands and scooped out some ice.
Like I said, we absolutely love the food and coffee there but are routinely disappointed by the service we receive from the one young woman in particular.
Update The owners have since reached out and worked to rectify the situation. Their customer service has...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe pastry is delicious, although be prepared for paying high premium prices. But the place persist in a chronic identity and organizational crises. There has been an effort to make it a local cafe, but serving baked goods and coffee drinks in paper cups and boxes is environmentally irresponsible. It also deprives this Uppercrust of any cozy spirit. It's hilarious to see distinguished local ladies digging with their plastic forks into the depth of paper boxes to get into quiches and cakes. The usual excuse from the staff is the absence of time to serve otherwise on busy days, but that's fast-food mentality, and the priority given to the owner's convenience and effort to save a few bucks on water and electricity. There is also a striking chaos behind the counter due to a poor organization of work. Consequently, just a few customers often wait for their few items for far longer than they should. The working people there are mostly very nice, with the exception of one lady, perhaps. She would let you know that "this is just a bakery" if you point out that paper cups for coffee is not the most elegant experience in an expensive place. The industrial fan howling above customers' heads on the front porch...
