This place is a joke. We were in town for 3 days and wanted to get a couple of groceries on our first day (Thursday, July 24th). We got some stuff to make s’mores, got some chips and some beverages. The first day we went there, everything was fine. We did get a couple weird looks from people because this IS a predominantly white community, and us being one of the few hispanic/americans, obviously people were going to look at us. No one bothered us but we did feel like we stuck out like a sore thumb. Whatever though. We came back in today, Friday, July 25th. We had a decent experience the previous day, so we decided to come back the next day to pick up a couple more groceries. We were celebrating my brother in law’s birthday, so we wanted to make some steaks for dinner. We came to the meat sections and were taking a look at the different cuts. A worker came over to us and was in the nastiest mood ever. Prior to this, we did NOT exchange words at all with this man. We grabbed a pack of ribeye but then put it back, and the guy basically yells at us and says “WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT ???!!!” Umm…. What EXACTLY did we do? We grabbed a pack and decided we didn’t like it, so we put it back in its SAME PLACE. The guy got all moody and rude with us and made a whole scene. He started yelling at us, so we were OBVIOUSLY going to defend ourselves, we weren’t going to stay quiet. Freedom of speech, right???? We decided to take our business elsewhere if this guy thought he could treat us like this. Unacceptable and VERY inappropriate. I think you guys should get off your high horse and maybe think about training your employees to give the BEST customer service to ALL your potential customers. You guys are a small business and it looks like your business is already going downhill, so I would recommend you guys change something before you end up getting shut down like every other Piggly Wiggly. I do have to say though, there is ONE sweet and kind cashier, who I believe was a veteran. He went out of his way BOTH days to make us feel very welcome, unlike the other man. So I do want to give him a huge thank you for being very professional and a decent...
Read moreWe have such a fantastic array of different grocery stores in Chicago, this store is tiny and bare bones in comparison. Even though it is small, it has a more upscale vibe than the crappy Piggly Wiggly we went to in Zion. On a positive note, they have really great donuts - above and beyond the usual grocery store offerings.
On a more negative note, the cashiers are unfriendly, especially for a small town. And the cashier who rung us up the last morning was completely ignorant about how to bag groceries. She started to put a heavy 4-bottle pack of soda on top of two freshly baked donuts. When my husband said, WOAH, NO, don't do that, she got completely confused and didn't give us any bag. Then he joked, we don't want pancakes! How can someone lack such basic common sense and think it is OK to crush donuts like that! When I came back to take photos for this review, the same cashier confronted me and asked why I was taking photos. This has never happened in any grocery store in the big city - so much for small town...
Read moreMy husband n I are visiting from out of town. Went to grab a few snacks, after dinner out. Approximately 740 tonight. As we are looking for our items, a masked male worker goes by and my husband said “hey, how’s it going “? My husband says this to almost everyone he passes. The store worker turns n says “ did you say something to me”? I said “ yea my husband just said hey”. We thought nothing of it. So finish our shopping and are waiting in line. This same worker leans n yells back to us in line “you go over to that lane” (pointing at us). So we start walking to the service counter to be checked out. As we do the worker looks at us n says “I’m not waiting on you, the next time you have something to say to me say it to my face”. I wanted to speak to management to report this guy with a big chip on his shoulder. My husband said no let’s pay n go. Unlike him. No one came to the service desk so Walmart got our business. We still don’t know what the guy was so worked up over, but he needs dip...
