El Toro Supermarket — Local services in Garner

I went to El Toro Supermarket today, my first time there. I was so impressed with this store, so big, clean but my reason for this review is because of the employees. I do not speak Spanish, I was on a quest to buy ingredients to prepare a Spanish dish for my children. When I entered the store, a customer leaving held the door open for me, the lady at the register waved at me. I started looked for the items I needed, no idea where to start. A young lady stocking the shelf noticed I looked lost and told me she didn't speak English, I had recipe in my hand, she recognized the items and started helping me! I was so grateful. On my way to the register I remembered one other item I needed, as I was searching the shelf, another customer was looking and noticed I was having trouble, she helped me find what I needed, even showed me something similar on another isle. I paid for my items and was told to have a nice day. Little did she know, she and everyone in her store "made my day"! The kindness I experienced in this grocery store was so refreshing and something I haven't experienced in a long time. Everyone was busy but made the time to help....

Nice selection of Mexican products but I try to avoid this place because the employees are just rude. The cashier Lupita doesn’t smile or greet you. She looks away while scanning your items. It was odd. Then I asked her if she had a fork (they keep plasticware behind the register just Incase you purchase a slice of cake or bakery item) she handed me a spoon. I nicely said sorry you don’t have a fork? She couldn’t understand English so the guy behind me told her in Spanish that I was asking for a fork. She said “oh no” then I said “ok I’ll take the spoon” she rolled her eyes and handed me the spoon. She doesn’t say bye or thank you or anything either. The place is a good Mexican store. The tortillas are sometimes a wait. We waited 2 hours this past weekend. I don’t know if it’s the owner of the place but an older man had a complaint from someone who said customers would ask other customers they knew in line for packets to be added so they didn’t have to wait in line. The older man laughed at her and said he didn’t care. Extremely unprofessional. My mom watched up ahead and they were doing this. It sucks I understand but wait your turn like everyone else.
