We have stayed with snuggled in log cabins two times in the past. Those experiences were great. This time when we arrived at Smokie Mountain Memories when we first entered the cabin we were not impressed. The cabin was dirty, the furniture was old and very worn. There were two microwaves because one was broken. The stove had a missing knob and the touch pad for oven had missing buttons. There was cockroach bait inside every drawer and cabinet. The refrigerator was dirty. There was a worn out pool table with two broken cue sticks that had been taped back together with duct tape. The theater room projector was broken and the flooring in the down stairs had water damage and most of the floor was peeling up. The hot tub had dirt piles inside it. The wall hangings and plants were covered in thick dust and cob webs. The smoke detector battery tray was open with no battery. There was a comb and piles of dirt under the recliner. The sauna door handle was falling off and was just hanging in one of the multiple holes in the sauna door. At about 9pm our daughter walked into the kitchen to find live cockroaches walking on kitchen counters. After more inspection we found more live and numerous dead cockroaches. We found dead cockroaches on the living room floor. We contacted Snuggled Inn log cabins and the owner informed us he did not know about a pest problem and he and his daughter had just cleaned the cabin before we arrived. We said if you did not know of a pest problem then why is the kitchen full of cockroache bait? He had no answer. He informed us that if we made the beds back(we removed bedding looking for bed bugs) then we would get a full refund although he had no where for us to stay. We were scheduled to spend Christmas at the cabin. We are a family of 6 with 4 children. We were left to find lodging until the early hours of the morning. We did finally get a refund but it was only after we contacted owner by email and informed him we had video of the overall condition of the cabin and video of the live cockroaches; that we received a full refund. We stayed in Morning Star with Snuggled Inn in the past and the cabin was in wonderful condition and well maintained. The owner of Snuggled inn did inform us that Smokey Mountain Memories is owned by his friend but he just rents it...
Read moreWe just got back from staying at the 2 bedroom, Smokey Mountain Memories, cabin. This was our second time staying in this cabin and we were not at all pleased with the condition of the cabin this time. The steps and railing entering the cabin were in need of repair, the entire outside of the cabin is in need of power washing, and the back deck floor and railing were in need of repair. Inside the cabin was far worse than the outside. Every cabinet and drawer was dirty and all the dishes and cookware had to be washed before we could even consider using it. The couch in the living room was filthy dirty and you could not sit on it because the metal bars were coming through the cushions. The satellite tv only worked part of the time and the tv in the bedroom was very outdated. The carpet in both bedrooms was the same carpet from years and years ago and was disgusting. The railing going upstairs is in need of repair. We wouldn’t dream of sitting in the couches downstairs in the “theater” room because they were gross, the pool table had been thrown up on and had who knows what spilled on it. Now for the WORST part, yes, it gets worse! I attempted to fill the whirlpool bath tub with hot water so I could relax and soak...thank God my husband went in and saw it before I got in the water, because there were little black worms swimming everywhere in the water! I had already sprayed microband cleaning solution all over the tub and it had sat for hours upon our arrival due to covid and that didn’t kill them. Needless to say I never got that relaxing bath, or any bath for that matter, the sauna doesn’t work either. So my advice, unless you’re a bunch of frat boys wanting to get drunk and you don’t care about cleanliness, do not walk...run to another cabin to rent. We also lost all water and power for 4 hours and couldn’t use hot water the rest of the day after that, I spoke with Jim regarding this and he told us it wasn’t his fault, and never even offered to bring us flash lights or anything...we should’ve taken our money elsewhere, it would’ve been much more appreciated and well spent. Never ever again! And yes, I have a video of the worms in the tub, it won’t let me...
Read moreMy wife and I arrived on the 26th. As we always do, we bring our own linens as back up and check the beds upon arrival. I can handle the mismatched sheets and old, stringy blankets. I cannot handle tears in the mattress. I cannnot deal with moldy vents. I cannot deal with extremely stained carpets that emit an unusual smell. I was not in the cabin 10 minutes and knew I could not let my family sleep here. The photos on the website don't show you the vents, the carpets, or mattress. I called him and he asked me to remake the bed(suggesting if I did I could get a refund), admitted the carpets were not in good condition(from a cleanliness standpoint). He also said the owner of the cabin itself came after us and said we left food on the counter and he had to clean it. (100 % not true, we weren't even there 10 minutes, like I said). After a lot of back and forth I was told if he(the owner of the business) could rent the cabin back out, only then would I receive a refund(crazy considering I, as a consumer, have a right to refuse these conditions the cabin was in). He threatened my wife with charges if she "maliciously" attacked him or his business online, simply because she told him she would post about this business and its cabin on TripAdvisor. I told him he was trying to intimidate us, which he denied. He told me after the fact that we could handle this. He was supposed to call me back by 2:00 on Sunday and told me to call him if no call by then. He never called or answered the phone back for me. I want everyone to be aware of the potential situation you could be going through if you decide to rent from here. I did not get a photo of the mattress because he asked me to remake the bed when he was still implying I could get a refund. I wanted to leave the bed unmade so he could see the tears, but I guess he didn't really care. I have photos of the other issues which I will post on TripAdvisor, I don't see the option here on Google Review. 100% not recommended to rent a cabin from this business. We winded up staying at Cabins Usa. It was a much better experience,...
