I had just been discharged from a geriatric psych unit because I was having increased depression due to anti-depressant medication side effects. I was also having medical problems at the same time including shortness of breath and wheezing. I had been getting nebulizer treatments I the s psych unit. After I was discharged I went to the Geneva ER for shortness of breath as soon as I told them of my breathing problems I was told I was anxious, I have been a cardiac nurse for 40 years. The admitting nurse did not like that I told her that and I started crying I felt they were judging me like a crazy person and not addressing my SOB. Before I knew it. It was suggested that I get I V Ativan for anxiety by the nurse and Er doctor Then an emergency with a really sick patient came in and I was left in my room with no attention. They were short staffed. Well I finally decided to sign myself out against medical advice(AMA)the nurse took out the papers to sign and the doctor shouted from the bad patients room not to let me go because he didn’t tell me the results of my CXR. She showed me where to sign. I went out to the lobby, and the nurse handed me my papers and it showed a problem with my CXR the nurse said the doctor was not going to do anything for me anyway. The results of the CxR showed a left pleural effusion. I was shocked, the doctor would have treated that. The doctor was great the two nurses who cared for me were uncaring and made my depression worse due to how they treated me.I would never in my professional career have treated a former nurse that way. To tell the truth it was traumatic. I am now getting outpatient to r/o lung and heart problems. I wrote a letter to the patient advocate who said they were very busy with the bad patient. I was in the ER before that patient got to the ER. As a heart RN I can understand emergencies but I will be hard pressed to go to this emergency room again. The RN’s lack of compassion and insensitivity. I will have to go another ER from...
Read moreWould give 0 stars if I could! Absolutely terrible experiences the 3 times that I have gone to the ER here. I gave them the benefit of the doubt & gave them a few chances but after the last time, I will not go there again. I too have worked in the medical field for years so I know that there is always a different dynamic. They don't deserve to have the University Hospital name! Most of doctors & staff were rude & unattentive. The last time I was there was due to severe back issues, I couldn't even walk & the doctor said it was from a mild UTI! WHAT??? I am a fairly young mom & have dealt with back issues most of my adult life but every now & then it really acts up. This was the worst that I had ever experienced any issues with my back. I have arthritis, bulging discs, herniated discs & degenerate disc disease. The staff treated me like I was just there seeking drugs when I truly couldn't move. So the doctor prescribed me 200 pills each of Keflex & sent me on my way. 200 pills of Keflex for a MILD UTI?? They kicked me out of the room that I was in & put me in the waiting room to wait for my ride because they needed the room. There were only 2 other patients & 1 in the waiting room? I got no help getting in my husband's car & again, I couldn't even walk. When I finally got home, I had to crawl from the car into my house. It wasn't until I saw a sports medicine doctor (through a competing hospital system) the next day that I actually received proper care. I started physical therapy at a competing hospital system & was back to walking on my own within a few weeks. It was NOT a UTI! Thanks for guessing though doc! Oh & I even left a message for the Ombudsmen to discuss my mistreatment & didn't ever get a call back. I will NEVER EVER go back there or bring my family there again. We will be going to a further hospital system for ER trips...
Read moreI can not even begin to describe how terrible Dr. Mohammed Najeeb Osmon treated my mother today!! How dare a physician chastised my mother today as she was there to receive a nuclear echo and stress test . During her stress test asked her about pain and she stated she couldn't feel chest pains maybe due to the fact that her back and legs were killing her. He then proceeded to tell her that her scoliosis has nothing to do with pain during her stress test. And the fact that he just quit smoking after 30 years, and wanted to tell her she should just quit like it was that easy for him!! Little does he know she is trying her hardest to do so. No one should ever leave a physician in tears or be crying during a procedure because of a DR's attitude. I will say only this about his office, she stated his staff was incredibly kind to her and apologized for his behavior . So to the nurses you rock to the DR if you do not know how to be kind in the profession you are in I would suggest you retire. I would hate to see what you are like with a person who is dying!! And I will be reaching out to the President of the hospital for this behavior. PSA: Stay clear of this DR!!! Only put one star because...
