I’ve been to eos before I knew the difference between batter and batter, this one takes the cake. The crew running this gym, lead by the famed wielder of the legendary Excalibur Ali, is that of myth. As the glass doors swing open, I am greeted by a blast of ice cold air only rivaled by the warmth of smiles from that of Big Mac and his equally handsome counterpart Miguel. Goosebumps rise from my tender forearms as a wave of happiness fills my insides. I quickly shake off the strifes of minimum wage and enter the luxury of affordability. Like the first sip of an ice cold Diet Coke with my McDonald’s, I savor the refreshing sights. Couches huddled neatly close by supported aesthetically with a shelf of supplements contrasting to the color, compliments the training offered by professionals certified to help me reach my goals. I chuckle to myself thinking, what a silly run on sentence yet I am unable to describe it any other way. As my gaze scans to the right to choose my cold drink from the fridge offered by the front I catch the glint of a smile I know all too well. Andrea opens the fridge handing me a C4 (energy drink!!). “Thank you, ma’lady” I utter as I bow nervously hoping she hadn’t noticed the sweat sliding off my brow. “Apologies, my body has yet to catch up from the heat outdoors, that’ll be the card on file”, I say as the beep tickles my ears as she rings me up. “But of course sire” she says moments before doubling over with laughter. We hit a quick dab (handshake!!!) and exchange hasty pleasantries before she rushes to assist another with unanswered questions. Now I implore you to close your eyes and imagine the crisp crack of a new soda can, followed by the short fizzle as the pressure releases into the atmosphere. The pressure from the can and the pressure from my day. The sales team glances up to each exchange a quick nod as I pass by to then return to the work, better said as the pleasure, of assisting the new people joining the family. “Stop bothering my team”. I hear a giggle behind me knowing all well who it is. Hands on hips, with a smile wide enough to bridge the Grand Canyon, Ali welcomes me home (this eos feels like home!!!). “Taking care of my gym?” I question her with the cheerful sarcasm in return. As we fist bump our eyes momentarily meet, a battle of dominance lasting generations yet only seconds ensues leaving me defeated at her feet. Filled with defiance I rise to my full stature of 5’6 (I’m still growing!!!) and step onto the floor determined to grow my power under the countless weights offered there. “Haha little does she know that her kindness will one day be her downfall” I laugh to myself knowing full well I will catch up to her feats of strength with the determination brought about from defeat. I know all the faces I see each face full of vigor. I greet my comrades as each battles against themselves, becoming more powerful as each moment passes. I feel powerful here. I feel home. Eos is home they say. Eos is love.
Thanks to the crew of EOS at olive and 51st for the time I spent there. I made core memories there and will always remember and cherish it. Some honorable mentions: Ali the honorable (General Manager) Andrea the knowledge lusty (sales team) Ernesto the feeble (sales team) Big Mac and Miguel (front desk) Anisiana Foxy Cleopatra (front desk) Julian the lover boy (sales team) Dylan the anti-villain (assistant manager before he moved)
Thursday - Sunday are the slow days the rest gets pretty packed. Great gym, great staff. Not many places ran as...
Read moreBe careful with the location on 51st and Olive. If you do need a gym, please please, look elsewhere or even a different EOS. And if you do sign up, at the very least, NEVER let them process anything over the phone. I definitely feel taken advantage of. After reading other reviews/complaints, it feels like the gym version of the Wells Fargo scandal is in the making.
So, I guess I owed about $100 from around Covid times and they only just got back to me about it in July. Well, instead of me paying that, they could write it off and all I had to do was sign back up for a $1 with the cheapest membership. Sounded like a good deal.
Well that was all a lie. That small ~$100 balance, has literally turned into over a $340 headache and a hassle since July. The month to month cancel anytime policy is also a deceptive and misleading. Sure you pay month to month, but if you want to cancel, you have to pay for the current month you’re in, AND the following month because they require a 30 day notice/waiting period in order to “process” the actual cancelation.
So my due date was on the 16th. If I paid, called 2 days after on the 18th to cancel, I would have to wait for the following months bill first and pay for that additional month I don’t want. Nobody told me that when I expressed wanting to cancel in August.. Could have saved $150. Yes $150
I’ve been charged roughly $53 every month since sign up in addition to the unexpected payment towards that old balance that didn’t get reduced to $1.
But back track here. After the unexpected charges, multiple calls to the gym, I call billing. There’s no resolution with them and they tell me I have to get it taken care of AT THE GYM… so I go, and they told me that they would fix things, reach out to billing and get the charges refunded etc.. before I left, I had to sign up or create a new account on an app with a different email to link up only God knows what. ( i find later from billing that I have 2 agreement numbers and one is inactive now and the other is currently pending cancellation. )
Me being optimistic, I wait for refunds, I forget, and then get charged again the following cycle. I call a few times, and people are all giving different answers about thr charges. So I’m about fed up ready to cancel at that moment. That’s when I find out about the weird cancel policy they have..
I was able to find eventually the contract they signed me up for that I didn’t sign for. Had incorrect contact information and also has me agreeing to the highest costly plan (which I’ve found does result in a higher commission). And this “contract” is on file which I never signed up for. Never received it via mail or email, cause how could it be delivered. I and I’m sure others are left in the dark with this seemingly bait and switch tactic.
Ultimately, I’m fed up with the company and employees who don’t know what they’re doing. I’ve never had such a terrible experience dealing with some company in my life, as I’ve had with EOS.
They mislead me in nearly every interaction and at the end of the day they seem like they only care about your wallet and how much they can take from it.
I hope this review can save at least one person from being financially burdened by...
Read moreExtremely disappointed with the management of this gym.
I signed up for personal training upon renewing my membership a few months ago and the experience has been awful.
In the sales consultation, the number one thing I said I was looking for out of training was a personalized approach. I've worked out for years but never had anything tailored to me which is was the only thing that I was looking for out of trainer. And this is exactly what I did not receive.
The trainer also explained to me that the training program needed to be a contract so that I would commit to the program and actually get good results. Makes some sense I guess...
It took until about my 4th session with the trainer before we were able to use the body scan analysis due to the machine being under maintenance. I did not receive a personalized training/workout plan or nutrition guide from my trainer. All I really received out of him was a training partner for the one day a week that I worked with him. Without any sort of plan for the rest of the week how could one 25 minute session a week get me any results?
On week 6, I get a call from my trainer asking to reschedule that weeks session to the following week. I wasnt thrilled about doubling up my workouts in a single weekend but I obliged because I did personally like the guy. Week 7 rolls around and I text my trainer to ask him what time we'd be fitting in the extra workout. He tells me that he is no longer employed at EoS. EoS did not bother to give me a call to inform me of this or reschedule me with any other trainers.
One week ago today, I had sent my fiance by the gym to inquire about our training sessions. They gave her the run around, refused to let her speak to the manager sitting in her office directly behind the front desk said the club manager would reach out over phone. She never called. That same day I also sent an email to the advertised email contact on the club website for personal training questions. I never received a reply from that inquiry other. Now yesterday, I call the gym again and speak with Gabby at the front desk and explain the situation about how I haven't had a training session in 3 weeks with no communication from the club, yet of course they are still billing me for the sessions. She lets me know that the head of training is in the club and that he would be returning my call in about 15 minutes. No one ever called me back.
I am at a loss for words at the integrity of the management for this club. They have entirely botched my training program that I continue to be billed for without even the common decency of giving me the time of day to properly respond to...
