We visited Retro Exchange yesterday with the simple goal of buying Pokémon Sword. What should have been a quick and easy purchase turned into a complete disaster. The employee helping us couldn’t even open the game case to verify its contents — something that should be a basic part of selling used games. As a result, we ended up with the wrong game entirely: Super Smash Bros., not what we asked for or agreed to purchase.
We realized the mistake right away and called them immediately — we live 50 minutes away. We were told the manager would be in the next day and that we’d receive a call. No call ever came. We followed up ourselves, only to be told that we were basically lying about the whole situation and that we’d need to drive all the way back (a two-hour round trip) just to prove their mistake.
To make matters worse, they accused us of dishonesty, even though we were more than willing to mail the game back — a game that, ironically, is worth more than the one we paid for. That’s right: they gave us a higher-value game by mistake, and we offered to return it via mail, but were met with suspicion and attitude instead of customer service.
This is either gross incompetence or intentional fraud, and either way, it’s unacceptable. Do yourself a favor: DO NOT shop at Retro Exchange. The staff is careless, the management is unresponsive, and the policies are shady at best. Absolutely awful customer service and a complete lack of...
Read moreI used to be a huge fan of this toy store but recently when I went to sell some vintage naruto Mattel figures, 2 black series obi wan kenobi’s, sonic 3 figures, vintage rocky balboa figures, a vintage 2002 toybiz wolverine and a funko pop. They LOWBALLED the heck out of me. It was a total of 14 figures and they only offered me about $30. That’s an average of $2.14 per figure… so naturally I negotiated and asked them for more and asked why they offered me so little. I was talking business with the guy with ginger hair and glasses (he’s really cool). When this other employee came out of nowhere and told me VERY RUDELY he’s the one who went over my figures and came up with the price. He said that my figures weren’t very desirable at all and that they hold no value whats so ever in the most rudest way and then just walked away. He made me super mad. It was so bad that even his coworker (the guy I was originally talking to) got awkward. Luckily, I kept my cool and just told the guy I wasn’t interested in selling and left. Idk who this guy is but he’s not a good face for the company. He’s very nonchalant and acts like he doesn’t care. If I was the owner I’d get rid of him immediately. He’s destroying the stores image.
It’s safe to say they lost a loyal customer and l I’ll definitely be sharing my experience with other...
Read moreIve sold so many items to this place I can't even begin to tell you. Rough est I'd say a couple thousand pieces. So this has been my go-to for a few years now to say the lease. So today I took in a few more to be sold. I get there are standards that some places have. I get it. However, I definitely won't go back to sell or trade anything again. They wouldn't take the loose legends that I had and 70% of them I bought from them loose. I am a smoker however, being a business that buys collections, you have those items that do have to air out or whatever the case may be. Idk but you and everyone else don't hold that against people or when they are in a situation. I have been homeless for 2 months, jobless and piecing out my collection. I drove my car up there, on E in a spot and they said well there are a couple trades ahead of you it won't be too long. I said well I'm kinda stuck so I'm going to be hanging out, looking around. Well I got there at 1130 this morning, didn't get my trade until 6pm. For 7 sealed figures, legends, mythic Legions, McFarlane DC platinum eradicator, lobo DC super powers and a Marvel legends Thors Hammer replica. All sealed let me emphasize on that. Value was somewhere around $350. With a straight face the girl offered...
