I have been here 4x, so when I write this I have enough experience.
Day 1. The first time I went I wanted to try Birria and it was the middle of the week. The waitress said they didnt have anymore Birria. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and ordered red chilaquiles, with over easy eggs, and a side of cucumber water. Eggs were over hard and had to send back, when asked for extra cream and onion I did get that. Service in general was good, and they helped me get my water to go and add chamoy and tajin to my to go cup. Food was 4 Service a 4
Day 2. I took a friend and my husband to try this place raving about the waters and presentation and good chilaquiles. Arrived before the expansión and it took an hour to seat 3 people. Once seated we got our water and we were good. My husband and friend enjoyed the food they gave it a 4 and for my second time again eggs were over hard again and to get our food it took another hour. Service 3
Day 3. Took my family as they already had the expansión and there was no wait. I wanted to try the bisquits and they said they had no bisquits. Again no food items. My son ordered the steak which had no flavor and the avocado sauce does nothing except say I dont belong here. The potatoes tasted weird. The rest of us had chilaquiles and again non of our eggs came as we ordered them. I was actually upset at that point. Then our sauce tasted burnt. I just sat there and ate my meal unhappy. Waters are always good. Service 3 Food 2
Day 4. I should have known better than to come here again. I took family here today that came from Mexico. I regresa it so much. We were a party of 7 and we were seated within 10 mins so it was ok. Once they sat us they just left us there. No menus nothing. I had to go to the front to get the menus after 10mins. We all ordered and again water were good but the cucumber wasn't server with chamoy anymore which was the good part. Wanted Menudo no menudo. Son asked for Birria ramen which doesnt have a lot of Birria more noodles than anything. They use brisket to make it which is a mistake in itself. Brisket doesnt hold flavor for Birria. A cousin had chilaquiles and they were cold. Cold cold. He asked to take them back and when they did they brought them back without eggs. I had to have chilaquiles again because they were out of Menudo. Again over medium not over easy and also cold. My mom liked the green echiladas and said chicken was tender but was not hot as it should have been. Husband had to remind them of side of beans he asked for. The other were green enchiladas and coupon said he ate them because he was hungry. They took 40 mins to bring the food. My husband had omelette which he said was good but rather have the ones from Dennys as they have more flavor a way less expensive. In the end they added an automatic 18% gratuity being a party of 7 which we were pissed because Service was bad. We paid and honestly never never coming back or reccomending this place. Food 1 Service 1
In the end it is way overpriced, Service is bad, and food, well maybe go on a weekday to get hot food. Oh and you run the risk of them not having what you wanted. Aguas frescas are on...
Read moreWe were recommended by friends to come here because they have come many times and love it. We came for breakfast at around 8 am on Saturday. It was us (2 adults, 2 kids) and another gentleman inside. Off the bat, it felt so tense, like they were annoyed anyone would be there that early. We had also just gotten the menu and like 3 minutes later the lady asked what we wanted and was annoyed we didnt know yet (we have a 2 year old and 3 year old) I get it it's the morning. They were nice to bring out the kids' food first (mini pancakes with bacon, eggs, and fruit) they forgot the bacon, and I had to ask for it, and it was burned .. we aren't much to complain and just left it. but the kids only ate the eggs, and I tasted the rest. The pancakes were either too salty or the mix had gone bad. I tried it again, and thought, it's just in my head... no, they were bad, and my kids kept spitting it out, and they usually love pancakes.
I ordered the chorizo breakfast tacos with egg (new item). I was just served egg tacos.. I thought maybe the chorizo was hidden and there was nothing. I asked the lady if the tacos had chorizo in them and she didn't know.. she asked the cook, and they brought a tiny little plate (like the size of those sushi plates for soy sauce) of dry burntish chorizo.
My husband is also a big coffee drinker, and he couldn't even drink the coffee it was so bad, and he loves black bitter coffee without sugar or cream.. he liked his food of the breakast steak with sauteed onions (new item), but it didn't look like the photos on the reviews...
The kids and I liked the eggs and water... we were so disappointed because I am Mexican and born there too... just don't know if it was an off day, or because my husband is white, or because our kids were cranky because they were hungry (we took them outside when they were upset) but whatever the reason we still paid for our food and left a tip...
We aren't ones to complain or leave bad reviews or good reviews, really. But this was so bad... I'm all for supporting small businesses, especially ones that represent our Mexican culture, but please either treat your employees better so they give better service or be more attentive to all hours of the services you provide.

Read moreA strip mall surprise! Estilo Azteca is a delightful family business where you can have a much more authentic Mexican meal than what is usually served up in restaurants, and although it's small and has more of a fast food vibe than a restaurant, the murals and dinnerware lift it up a notch. I started with a refreshing piña drink rimmed with tangy tajín (chili lime salt), and 3 Quesabirria Tacos which were superb as the homemade tortillas were stuffed and then grilled and served with birria broth which was so rich and flavorful. The Birria Mac and Cheese which was stuffed shells instead of usual small macaroni so that was a pleasant change. The Huarache (named for that style of sandal) has a "sole" at the bottom which is masa dough grilled and lightly fried in an elongated shape that is then topped with beans and al pastor, lettuce, crema, queso fresco and salsa. And although all the food was flavorful, fresh, and on beautiful plates that added to the experience, I liked my choice the best. It was the Mini Trompo which was al pastor (grilled marinated pork in this case) with rice, tortillas--cutely rolled, grilled pineapple, onions, cilantro, limes. The barbeque grill flavor complemented the marinade perfectly. It was a colorful feast for the eyes too. I really enjoyed this place, but the servers weren't particularly attentive or informative, and I had plenty of questions since these were not the ordinary choices seen at most MX places, but I could see they were all really hopping so I don't want to drop them down a star in the rating. At least the menu had some pictures and info, but it might help to do a little research before arriving to be well prepared for...
