Good location for hiking and ca. 50 miles from the town of Leavenworth. The cabin was clean and the kitchen and bathroom were updated, the cabin itself small, but sufficient for the two of us. Cons were that the bedrooms were upstairs and the bathroom downstairs. The cabins back deck is adjacent to the main road, which is busy almost all the time and if you are sensitive to traffic noise this may be an issue. We did not utilize the Outdoor seating because of it and slept with earplugs. The hot tub was great: good, strong jets and clean. The management of the place was responsive. Cabin was also minimally stocked - there was no pepper, minimal salt and coffee for 2 days, knives were dull. Overall it was an okay stay, but we would not return at this price point.
In response to management's reply to my comment, let me clarify that I did inquire about the noise level before making a reservation, because I had read that the property is adjacent to a road. I was told that there was traffic on "certain times of the day, but it should not be an issue at night". Unfortunately there is traffic day and night. Regarding my "multiple requests" , allow me to clarify that this was about my asking where I could find a flower vase and sending a photo of the flowers. The response was " Ohhh those are beautiful! If you don't find one I can have on dropped off in the morning :)." The next morning we found out that the garbage disposal didn't work and there was a puddle of water around the kitchen faucet base. We informed management, who replied they would contact the owner. We were out hiking all day and that evening we noticed the circuit breaker for the garbage disposal had popped, but was okay after resetting. I informed management about it being okay and, since it was a day later, asked about the status of the flower vase. Thinking they had to stop by anyway with a vase, I asked if it was possible to change the tea selection. Please NOTE in my review I did NOT include the fact that the stocked of two single pot packs included one which was already opened and clipped shut with a bag clip, we had brought our own coffee, knowing there was a limited supply. In response to the vas/tea text, I received a response the next morning that housekeeping had already left. Another day later, still no vase and my flowers in a pot so they wouldn't die, I couldn't find a blow dryer and had to reach out again tacking on the vase question and asked if I could PURCHASE a box of tea. This time the response was: we don't have a vase, sorry. I can have someone swing by some tea. The vibe was clear: I was a bother. I did not send another text.
We have excellent ratings from on our VRBO and AirBnb stays, and our best experience is when we do not have to reach out to owners/management for something missing or not functioning. It's our vacation after all, and who wants to have a back and forth about about things going wrong or not being there. We also DO read through listings carefully, which is why we brought our own coffee. After our stay in Skykomish we travelled to Glacier, WA where we stayed at an AirBnb at $200 more for six nights which was excellent, quiet and stocked with everything one would expect and more. As far as I'm concerned I provided a fair assessment of our experience at Tree Line, neither talking trash about the rental, nor pointing out (until now) what I initially thought were minor issues such as a flower vase, open coffee, garbage disposal, leaky faucet, no hair dryer. Sorry we were such a bother, but we do have...

This is a review of our stay at the Grande Lodge, Skykomish, December 28-30, 2021.
Pros: The home is very private and has a neat log cabin feel. The hot tub was nice on the back deck. It snowed during our stay, and it was beautiful. It’s close to Stevens Pass Ski area.
Cons: The major concern that we had with this home is the lack of smoke alarms/ carbon monoxide alarms. The alarms had either been removed from the home and/or the batteries had been removed. This is extremely concerning especially because the upstairs bedrooms are heated with space heaters. I believe this violates Washington state law requiring rental homes to have smoke alarms/ carbon monoxide alarms. We noticed this on the last day of our stay.
This home has an issue with the tankless hot water heater. On every day of our stay the hot water in the shower fluctuated from hot to ice cold for several minutes, and back to hot water. The water heater in the storage room would start to beep while the home lost its hot water. It’s not much fun to be covered in soap in ice cold water. This also occurred during dish washing, etc.
One of the neat features of this home is the large gas fireplace in the living room. Unfortunately, during our stay, the fireplace did not work.
We did communicate our concerns to the property management company Tree Line Vacation Rentals during our stay. They did come out the first day to try to fix the fireplace. Unfortunately, the pilot light went out before we returned to the home. They also claimed that the hot water heater was working fine, contrary to our experience.
I do not typically write bad reviews, but Tree Line Vacation Rentals property management company has not responded to multiple emails that I have sent them following our stay. Unfortunately, we had booked this home for another stay in January 2022, however, due to the above concerns, I have emailed them several times regarding our concerns and our desire to cancel our reservation. They have failed to respond to my request and their complete lack of communication has been extremely frustrating. I am still unsure if they have canceled my reservation or not. Please beware if you rent a home from this rental company. I would not be writing this review if they simply showed the integrity to respond to my concerns rather than ghosting me!
Edit on 1/10/22: I have changed my review from 1 star to 3 stars because I finally received an email reply from the host confirming that they had cancelled my reservation due to the concerns we had with this home. I am glad they have resolved the fire detector issue. I hope that others do not experience the cold shower. I wish them nothing but the best in their recovery from this major...
Read moreWhat an incredible place! Pure magic! We stayed in the “A River Runs Through It” cabin in Baring, and wow! Neat, comfy, relaxing, serene, and a wonderful place to gather a small family. My husband practically had to peel me off a charming moss and fern-covered stump to get me to come home- I wanted to move in! While it rained the whole time (it’s the Pacific Northwest- it’s going to rain), the sound of the river and the rain lulled us into a peaceful trance. One evening, we were fortunate enough to open the door and smell the earthy scent of mycelium after the rain subsided for an hour or so. The cabin offered just about every convenience, except conditioner, which I forgot (and then promptly forgot to care that I needed it because I was too busy staring at tiny pink flowers on the river bank). The bathroom is one of the comfiest places in the cabin with heated floors, a heated toilet seat, and claw-foot tub. The living room is comfortable and well-loved. The beds are soft and warm, and the kitchen is big enough to cook a decent sized meal. Bring your kids and dogs, but know that the loft has a sturdy ladder which might not be ideal for said dogs and older humans (were I still a kid I would’ve loved that ladder). The loft has a perfect meditation space, you can still hear the river and watch the scrub jays play in the trees while lounging on the couch with a warm blanket and a cup of tea. The gas stove keeps the cabin warm during chilly evenings, which is especially welcome when transitioning from the hot tub on the deck to the living room. And speaking of the hot tub, what a view! The river was beautifully high and if you sit in a certain spot you can see a window in the trees to a small waterfall. The surrounding forest seems straight out of a Miyazaki movie, it’s easy to imagine trees spirits, and faeries hopping from evergreen to evergreen making their homes in the mossy boulders all around. A luxe price for homey amenities, but the fee reflects the absolutely priceless surroundings and the care provided by Tree Line staff (we had a slight couch situation which we found a solution for and the staff promptly offered to help with). I’ve searched all over for a secluded A-frame with this particular water view and I was thrilled when the pictures didn’t do it justice. Stunning is an understatement. Easy to find, easy to love, hard to leave! Can’t wait to...
