Once a long-term and now returning customer, now that im back into card games, I just wanted to share my thoughts since I never left a review before.
Most card shops I've seen prioritize selling inventory. Zenergy cares about the players. I frequented this store during their first major expansion and the thing that the employees would always say first is "Yeah, we're gonna have a lot more tables." And if you go in and look they lived up to this promise. Almost all their inventory is stored on wall shelves and cases, with most of the floor space being used for tables. Its clear they used all the wall space they could before adding shelves to the floor space.
They genuinely love people enjoying tabletop games. Me and my friends could play dnd in their side building every week, for FREE, and they never pressured us to buy anything. (Side-note, don't be like us. Support the store thats nice to you.) They don't even make you rent out table space. They WANT you to have fun and play things. You can stay there and play all day long if you want.
They keep their crowd friendly and safe. Sure, an employee might keep an eye on you if you're checking out merch, or be stern with how you handle their cards, but thats their JOB. The employees don't have any tolerance for hate speech, and you can tell by how diverse and comfortable their customer base is. At Zenergy I've played against people that were older, younger, male, female, black, white, and all across the LGBT spectrum. There's no hatred/bigotry/sexism at this store. All that matters is that you wanna play something nerdy.
Stepping back into zenergy the other day I was greeted by familiar and new faces, all friendly. I caught up with Kat, one of the employees who I consider to be a friend, got the low-down on their weekly commander night, and browsed the new wares.
Zenergy still feels as friendly as it was several years ago. Yes, employees are gonna try to sell you stuff. Its a game store. Sales pay the bills. Yes, of course they are gonna tell you to be careful with their cards. That's their merch. Zenergy is the most enjoyable card shop experience I have ever had, and I don't think you're going to find a better one...
Read moreVisited & bought some single Yugioh cards from a lady who was very pleasant and had a fun conversation with.
Came back with some cards to sell to see how that side of things goes with a local card joint.
After firguring out what I am willing to part with for how little a local card joint is able to offer you, the problem I experienced with the place came out.
The person who claimed later to own the place, has an inflated & fragile ego.
I had already took away what we said we can't agree upon.
He tells me literally " I assume you took all the cards valued above 10 dollars out" and he didn't go over them again due to his assumption. Even tho I saw him not go through them again after pulling out the ones I did not agree to sell, and told him " did you go through them already that fast " to establish the trade items and the valuation of the trade in, after the removal of what I was not willing to part with.
He instead assumes again and strikes a deal without even looking at the cards, but when he retreives his logbook and returns, he does finally begin doing his job of checking each card that IS up for trade and generating the value of the trade.
He begins pushing cards away, he doesn't want, which is absolutely fine.
Suddenly he begins accusing me of placing cards he didnt want to purchase in the stack and begins arguing with me..... big mistake.
So I give him a tongue lashing and call him out for
So I tell him I will place my cards away for safety & leave immediately, and he leaves me alone to do so, which is cool.
But as I am finishing up, his fragile ego kicks back in and he comes to sarcastically ask if I need help gathering my things......... you got to be kidding me.
He then continually tells me I want you out of my store, leave, get out.
So I have to tell him to stay away from me and not talk to me and leave me alone to finish and leave, which took another literally 20 seconds.
Place needs a new Owner quickly & a more fair trade in / sell value for cards, the rest is cool & why I...
Read moreI like this Store, admire its theme and goal to provide a good, safe environment for like minded people to share their hobbies and lifestyles with one another... I know theres a following of collectible in most aspects and walks of life. With that there are monetary values based on a variation of attributes (quality), supply and demand with other factors that define the amount that is to be expected in exchange for said.. All of which seems to be pretty common knowledge, but there is a huge angle that most do not see or just dont care speak of if they do. This is also one angle that me as a human being I see being used as leverage to exploit, abuse and to profit more. this is that of the knowledge of and in subject matter specifics vs. a ignorance of such in the same subject matter... In this case and that many others as well, I know very little of these variables. Thus is the very reason I seek out those that deem themselves as what I consider to be "competent persons " in the field or on the subject matters. At Zenergy there is no shortage of knowledge on there subject and wares. This does not mean that when a person, such as myself, whom is admittedly not as well versed in the matter to be treated as if I was in to your store to cause harm or any of the such. This also does not mean that because i am ignorant in the subject matter that said could be exploited or leveraged to increase potential profits...... They know as well as i do that the problem lay not with my ignorance and compassion to conserve there collectibles. It aggravates people that are passionate about something to watch or have to pay another that does not share the same passion. Share the knowledge and be fair with every one as you would exspect amongst your...
