Wayyy up north again to check out Big Day Brewing in Gorham, NH for a couple pints, a flight & a double smash burger. This place has been on my radar for awhile now so I was happy to finally check it off my list. A friend of mine had brought me a 4-pack of the GRAVITY QUEST NEIPA in early 2025 when he was up there & they were as delicious a IPA as I had hoped. While driving through the area I saw a lot of closed businesses & I can only imagine how difficult it is running a brewery/restaurant up north especially in this financial climate. It was great to see these guys doing well with a busy taproom when I arrived. Breweries are literally a dime a dozen up there so I can imagine this being a pop spot in town for sure. There was a good amount of styles represented here to try so let's get into it. π»π»π₯ββοΈ
I started off with a flight of four beginning with a taster of the MARGE SOUR which was a good average sour. My second 4oz was the SECRET 7 NEIPA, which was a excellent IPA & I ended up grabbing a pint of it when I finished my flight. My third taster was the NIGHT RIDE STOUT which was good for a Irish dry, but nothing that broke the mold. The last 4oz I scooped was the LEGIT LAGER Helles which was crisp & refreshing with some spice & floral flavor on the finish. My last beer was a pint of the WEE TARTAN Scotch Ale, a awesome Wee Heavy that was full of toasty caramel & my favorite pour of the visit. I took home a pounder of the SUPER 7 DIPA which was excellent as well & only available in cans to go. π»π»ππ₯β
Let's talk about that double "smash burger" I got the Rail Trail Burger. This thing had two 6oz patties, lettuce, tomato, red onion, cheddar & shire sauce on a brioche bun. It was good for sure with a delicious sauce, but like many places advertising smash burgers now, not truly a smash burger by definition. The taproom is pretty big with a couple different dining room areas & a decent sized bar. All your usual seating options here with tables, hightops, bar seating & a patio area outside with picnic tables & more. Cans to go here for home or tastings with friends. All & all a cool spot that I'm happy I finally made it to & well worth the three hour trip to check out, cheers! π»π»π»π₯ββπ₯πΊ

Β Β Β Read moreOverall not to thrilled with this place..... my husband and I were excited to try it since we love breweries and we live local. We eat out often, about twice a week. Firstly, there is virtually no customer service here. You need to seat yourself and stand in line to get a drink, which takes away from the whole going out to eat and being waited on thing. We were not greeted or welcomed at all. Pro to it, I didn't drink too much because I didn't want to stop conversation and visiting with my friends and family to stand in line. Then you have to scan a Q code to order food, which if you are ordering separately causes everyone at the table to get their food at different times. When the food is ready, this will be the first time someone comes to talk to you. They come to the table and bellow out what they are holding for you to have to hold your hand up or speak over the crowd to identify your food. Some people at my table were finished eating by the time others food had arrived. It also seemed very disorganized, many time I saw the waitstaff trying to deliver food and going to the wrong tables with it. You have to get up to get your own napkins and ketchup and if you would like water there is a self-service water bar area. The food was over-priced and not good at all. I got the caprese panini sandwich. Paid $5 more for fried chicken to be added. The chicken was virtually non-existent. Couldn't taste or see chicken at all. The bread had a nice crunch though. My husbands $6 taco (yup one taco for $6) was obviously canned chicken, cold and bland. He took one bite of it, looked at me and said, "We are never eating here again." This is coming from a Hispanic man. :( He then proceeded to add salt, pepper and a squirt of ketchup to be able to eat it. We also ordered wings, which seemed ok. An order of french fries, that had and odd raw floury after-taste to them and an order of onion rings that were soggy from oil and flimsy and floppy with no crunch to the breading. The drinks were standard, a little high in price, but average for home made brew. I don't drink much for beer so I got a very small, short pour for my wine at $10 a glass. You pay online, which they presumptuously and rudely automatically add a 20% gratuity to your bill. (please note above all the waiting on yourself you do here) Then after you pay that bill you have to stand in line again to pay your bar bill. Very big turn off. I would consider going back if they made it a more eating out experience. If I want to wait on myself I...
Β Β Β Read moreBig Day Brewing is a gem in our local scene, honestly. Yeah, the place can get noisy, especially when itβs packed, but thatβs just part of the whole experience. Itβs lively, filled with energy, and honestly, that vibe is a big part of why I keep coming back. Itβs the sound of good times, of people enjoying themselves, which is exactly what you want from a spot like this.Theyβve recently ditched that complicated ordering system they had, and thank goodness for that. Now, getting your hands on one of their craft beers is hassle-free, making the whole visit a lot smoother. And speaking of the beer, theyβve got a lineup thatβs worth talking about. Whether youβre into hoppy IPAs, rich stouts, or something in between, theyβve got you covered with flavors that are bold and memorable. But the real surprise here? The food. Weβre not talking about your standard pub grub. The menu is filled with dishes that are as inventive as they are delicious, perfectly designed to complement their beer selection. Theyβve got everything from gourmet burgers that are beyond satisfying to small plates that are perfect for sharing. The beer-infused dishes are a standout, showcasing a clever use of their brews that elevates the food beyond what youβd expect.Despite the buzz and din of the crowd, it all adds to the character of the place. The staff are on their game, tooβfriendly, knowledgeable, and always happy to recommend a beer or dish. Big Day Brewing isnβt just a brewery; itβs a spot where food, drink, and good company come together in the best way possible. Itβs the kind of place that makes you proud to be a local, and itβs definitely worth...
