Beasley Fish — Local services in Grafton

This place is an amazing little walk-up fried fish diner. I love places like this, with the small-town secret type of feeling.

I got the scored buffalo sides, which I had never had before. I absolutely loved it! Scoring it and breading it blooming onion style results in what is essentially pull-and-eat fried fish chips. It was delicious and allows for the seasoned breading to shine. I didn't even need any sauces, although they did have good hot sauce and tartar sauce.

I also had the potato salad, which tasted just like a family reunion style homemade potato salad. I tried some of my wife's Fried AK Pollack and it was delicious too! One thing worth noting is that I could tell they didn't just use the exact same breading as my scored buffalo. Many fried food places make that mistake and everything ends up tasting the same, but our dishes did have their own distinct flavors.

I used to always get buffalo fish, my Dad too. He loved this place. I had not been for a couple of years and I guess if i go again I'll ask them to not fry the fish so long. I know buffalo is scored but it was so overcooked that when i bit into the cylinder of fish i found there wasn't really any fish inside. It was weird, almost as if the fish had dissolved and all i was left with was breading that had retained the shape. I waited about 10 minutes for my order and I know that it probably should be in the oil about 7 minutes. Some people like it "fried hard" but not me, I want the fish to be somewhere between 145 and 165° when it comes out. I also think the oil needed to be changed because the flavor really lingered even after having an iced coffee down the street. I'm trying not to be too harsh because I know small places like this are probably struggling to stay alive but I was expecting the usual golden flaky buffalo i used to get (a lot of places don't serve...

So disappointing. Such great reviews and sure didn't come close to the hype. Maybe we hit them on a bad day?

Only 4 couples in front of us, which took 15 min. Once we placed our order, it took over 35 more minutes to come out!

Food wasn't even hot... and the portions were small. The fish bites (fritters) were had very little meat on them.

Prices are actually not that good when you build in the cost of the sides. The $2.50 cole slaw is in a tiny little plastic container, and wasn't good. I actually left hungry.

Sorry, I really hate leaving bad feedback, especially for small businesses but you guys really need to speed up your food prep... for only having like 3 items, food should...
