I went shopping at Hope's Outlet Thrift Store today. They have a variety of items from clothes to shoes to knick knacks to furniture. I had been there in the past, however, this time I was surprised at the increase in their prices. They have signs up on the prices of their clothes such as $2.99 for short sleeve shirts and $3.99 for long sleeves. There were several times that I looked at a clothing item, and it would have a price tag hanging on it with a higher price (some quite a bit higher) than the sign mentioned. I was kind of surprised since this happened quite a few times. I did end up putting some of the items back due to the higher price. So be aware of that. The store was organized, but did have a musty smell in it. Everyone was nice and friendly. I would definitely check them out, just be aware of the higher vprice tags on some of the merchandise. They do accept donations, as well. It says online that shopping or donating at Hopes Outlet goes towards building a stronger and healthier community in West Michigan. They offer various programs and services to assist...
Read morePreviously, was absolutely one of my favorite thrifts in Grand Haven, all of the Hope's honestly BUUUUUUT they have a problem that I dont see being solved soon... they currently have a young reseller who is spending entire days standing outside of their backroom to commandeer any new racks / inventory rolled out, and will ride your behind around the new racks while you search through them. I have brought it to the staffs attention several times, and each time I have walked in there in the past 6-8 months I see him posted up or parked outside in his car waiting for them to bring another one out. As a woman who sees Hopes pop up in her bank transactions more than she cares to admit, and now knowing he also puts that tension on elderly women alike (my mother left Hopes yesterday upon his descent into her personal space at a rack) I fear anyone who is coming to this location to look for something worth anything will be met with empty hands and a hateful glare from their...
Read moreThe building is pretty run down, and there is always an unpleasant smell. Be aware of the prices of clothing, because for whatever reason I thought all of the clothes were .99, except for the marked clothing. After having my things rung up and a lady standing behind me, the cashier announced that my total was $30! I said to the cashier that I thought the clothes were .99 and she looked at me like I was a complete idiot and said, "Noooo, they're $1.99, $2.99, $3.99...." I was highly embarrassed and just paid for it anyway. As I was walking out the door, I noticed a printer sized piece of paper on the end of one rack closest to where there was a huge pile of donated clothes on the floor and a woman putting plastic colored hang tags (without price tags). Really cute. So, what I thought was going to be $10 was really $30. Maybe it's the children's clothes in the basement that are...
