American United Federal Credit Union — Local services in Grantsville

Read this before doing business with this credit union! We opened up a HELOC a couple of months ago and everything was going well. The person doing the paperwork saw that there was a prelien on our house because of some recent construction work which is typical. We provided a full receipt showing it was paid in full and she said everything was good. We signed all the documents and now had our HELOC. We received a statement from them last month for $2,200 and we have never used this account! I immediately called them thinking it was fraud. They stated that they had drafted a check WITHOUT MY PERMISSION to pay the $2,200 so they could have first lien position. I forwarded the email that I had previously sent showing the balance was paid in full and they said it wasn't enough. Why wait to bring this up now after you used my account without my permission! They said they had been trying to contact the company that did the prelien and they haven't returned any of their calls. I asked for that number and called over there and got right through to a representative that gave me a lien waiver because it had been paid in full. I immediately forwarded that to American United and they said they would credit my account back for the money they took without permission. That should be the end of the story right? I am now receiving statements showing amounts due for the interest on the money that they took from my account without my permission. I just called them again and after waiting on hold for 10 minutes I finally hung up. This has been the worse customer service I have ever received from a bank in my life. I highly recommend taking your money elsewhere to a trustworthy credit union that has better customer service. I will also be reporting this to the NCUA because I can't imagine it is legal to take funds from my account without my approval...

My wife and I have been using this Credit Union for some years now. Costumer service has always been spot on, the staff is always friendly and willing to help. The costumer service rep that helped us recently was friendly, knowledgeable and competent. The location we recently done business with was clean and organized, however, the main area is set up odd, it doesn’t flow very well. I had an old IRA that I needed to transfer to another account. I was closest to the Grantsville branch, so I decided to go there even though I had never been to that location. The experience was excellent. What I was asking wasn't a common request, but the teller was professional & polite as she worked through the process. She double checked her work with the main office and once everything was done, she made sure I had the necessary paperwork. Great location and excellent service...
