I've shopped at the Lancaster Meijer, for about six years. Whereas I've encountered some very professional and courteous check out cashiers, I've also encountered some who don't know how to greet the customer, and are too lazy to package certain grocery items (i.e. bottled water), without being prompted. Many times, they don't know how to politely ask the customer for the amount due, without shouting it out, and without saying "please", which doesn't seem to be in their vocabulary. In addition, there have been times, when Meijer employees who watch the entrances, don't bother to greet the customers, when they come into the store, as is the case in other stores. Also, I've noticed in the past, that some of their third party vendors make it a point to bother the customers, when we are on the check out line, by deciding to restock certain shelves, which are in close proximity to the customer, at the check out line. It should also be noted that whenever the store is crowded, the Management does not wish to spend the money to have extra cashiers working the registers, to prevent the backlogs. They would rather customers be inconvenienced, and spend long periods of time waiting on line, than to budget the extra funds to hire more cashiers. They know by past experience, which hours and days the store is crowded, and they should plan accordingly. Last, Meijer could do a little better with security, and hire uniformed armed guards; with all of the violent incidents happening in retail stores, the presence of armed guards would serve as...
Read moreI used to love to go to Meijer. We really wanted some of their great produce and meat like we remembered. And to get all the great things from the ethnic section we used to get there. The produce was super bad. Wrinkled even. The apples and the nectarines. Spoiled watermelon. The meat section. I wanted to buy a lot more. But the butcher just hung out there with a rack of meat chatting. Then when I asked if they had more top sirloin and filet. He pointed over his shoulder. Said it must be on an end cap. Which I could not find. So the other butcher when I asked said maybe he meant that case. Which was where bacon and other packaged meats were. Needless to say. I barely got any meat. And we drove almost an hour to shop there. The one bright spot was the sweet young man making sushi who went out of his way to make what I wanted that they didn't have.
At the register I asked if there was anything special I needed to get the perks offered. The cashier seemed pissed I asked. And I did what she said. Kept checking my email. No code for her. So I didn't get the specials. I spent 563 dollars. For not really that much stuff. And she was so rude and mad. I left there really feeling sad and disappointed. I doubt I will ever shop a...
Read moreMy daughter Misty McClaskey was stranded at the Lancaster store for 35 minutes on 8/ 3/2022, between 5 and 6 pm , why , because she left her keys in the tray of her cart and when she ask the lady at the service desk to make an announcement and ask anyone to look in the cart to see if they had the keys and could return them to the service desk the Lady she refused and said they couldn't Do that. Meanwhile my daughter frantically searched around the store for 30 minutes trying to find the person her self. Finally exhausted she went back to the desk to leave her name and number if anyone turned them in and call me to come get her. The lady with a audible sigh said fine ( botherdly) what do you want me to say , and called out over the speaker not 5 minutes and a little man came up and produced the keys apologized he didn't notice til he heard the announcement that they were laying in his cart and all was solved. Couldn't this have been avoided with a little kind customer service an 30 minutes of panic and tears been avoided. What has happened to kindness in this day and age ...shame on you Meijer, I'll not shop there any more...
