It's DadIt's Dad
Alright, folks, gather 'round the picnic table—it’s Nedward, your 45-year-old suburban dad, the Baron of BBQ, Sultan of Dad Jokes, and the guy who keeps the block party sizzling with puns hotter than a July grill. When I strolled into Hillview Plaza, our local shopping gem, I was ready to meat my match. Why’d the dad cross the road? To get to Hillview Plaza, where the deals are so good, they’re practically a steal—and I’m not just talking about my attempt to “borrow” a neighbor’s lawnmower! Hillview Plaza’s best feature is its staff—friendlier than my golden retriever when I’m holding bacon. These folks are like the perfect BBQ sauce: tangy, sweet, and always there to spice up your day. I wandered into the hardware store, cargo shorts bulging with snacks (classic dad move), looking for a new grill brush. The staff didn’t just point me to aisle 12; they walked me there, cracking jokes about my “grill-iant” taste in tools. It was like they’d been trained at the Nedward School of Corny Quips! Their service is smoother than my dance moves at the ’98 prom, where I spun my wife into a dip and nearly dropped her into the punch bowl. Another standout? The variety of products. From grills to gardening gear, Hillview’s got more options than my kids’ excuses for skipping chores. I snagged a heavy-duty spatula that flips burgers like I flip bad puns—effortlessly and with a groan from the crowd. Now, let’s talk dad fails. I once tried assembling a Hillview Plaza grill without the manual, thinking, “Nedward, you’re the Grill Master—instructions are for amateurs!” Cue me staring at a pile of parts like a confused caveman. My wife still teases me about it, but that’s just my dad-ness shining through—bold as my socks-and-sandals combo. Another time, I got distracted by their lawnmower display and almost bought one to “mow down” my son’s Fortnite obsession. Hillview’s staff gently steered me back to reality, no judgment. In the end, Hillview Plaza isn’t just a shopping spot—it’s where dads like me find the tools to build backyard memories with family. Whether you’re grilling steaks or planting petunias, it’s the place to spark joy. So swing by Hillview, because it’s a cut above the rest—a real grate escape!

This is what it looks like now in Walmart Supermarket. Also, if you need help with something in anything in any department you can not find anyone to help. Me and a friend were in there the other night trying to get some transmission fluid and we needed a special kind with Dexron in it. Website said they had it. We looked for at least 30 minutes could not find it or anyone to help us find it. Finally these 2 teenage boys came back there to try and help. They found where it was supposed to be and there was none. Hey we did not get there names but "that you guys ". In my opinion this world is going to he'll in a hand basket. I am diabetic and I use to but V8 Strawberry&Banana no sugar added juice now they don't have it at either store. Ok, I will get off my soap box and let you all go about your business. Thanks for listening.

Dominated by the Walmart that is the big draw here, the shopping center also has a Murphy USA gas station, sushi/Japanese restaurant, nail salon, shoe store, beauty supply, cell phone shop, liquor store and a Game Stop. The shopping center is in decent condition and the Walmart tolerates overnight parking here, which is a bonus. It's a bit of a distance from the Interstate but US-29 (Wade Hampton Blvd) is a busy commercial road as well. There is a traffic light at the exit from the shopping center, which is helpful.

Went to El Mariachi for dinner. They have changed ownership, chef and wait staff. It was so good before. Now they stopped bringing baskets of chips to the tables, they have changed to small metal bowls with fewer chips. They also stopped bringing bottles of salsa to the table, instead you have to go to their salsa bar and get it in small little plastic containers which is okay for some people but when you're disabled it makes it difficult especially when you're recovering from a complete shoulder replacement. The chili was always my favorite and it was a large portion, now they've changed the recipe has changed and it's too hot for me to eat, it's also a smaller portion for the same price. I have diverticulosis and colitis and have told them on several occasions that I couldn't eat real hot and spicy food. I had to send the chili back and just order a plain beef, cheese and bean burrito with no sauce. I used the mild salsa instead. I dont know if I will go back their unless they go back to...

This Walmart is known for stopping customers & accusing them of shoplifting/stealing! They have done it to me personally! And I wasn't shoplifting/stealing; thank God for surveillance cams on my behalf! They "assumed" this & "assumed" that -ABSOLUTELY. RIDICULOUS.!!! It's embarrassing & it's wrong, in SO many ways! It's tragic that the world has come to what it has,-being stores-(Walmart), can treat you any way they want to or don't want to, because the "business sells itself" & people will go or have no choice but to go, back, because Walmart has everything we need to function/live, pretty much?! Businesses do not value a customers loyalty or a customers ANYTHING, anymore!!! I will never, ever go into this Walmart again! And NO, management was NOT notified nor was the 1-800-Walmart customer service line...as both would have been nothing but a waste of time, unfortunately!! SHOP AT YOUR...
