Oh boy, folks, buckle up because this dad is about to unleash a review that's cheesier than a feta-stuffed pita! I'm talking about Hwy 29 Pita Plus over in Greer, SC, right there on East Wade Hampton Blvd next to the DMV—because nothing says "appetite adventure" like dodging license renewals on your way to lunch. As a certified dad-joke connoisseur (I've got the cargo shorts and New Balance sneakers to prove it), I pulled up in my minivan last Tuesday, ready to gyro-scope this place out. And let me tell ya, it was love at first bite!

But wait, there's more—like that infomercial at 2 a.m. that suckers you into buying a grill that also vacuums. Let me spin you a yarn from just last Thursday, when I waltzed in 20 minutes before closing time, looking like a desperate dad on a mission. Picture this: The family's hollering for dinner, the wife's got that "you're late again" glare brewing via text, and I've got a hankering for a feast fit for a soccer team. I burst through the door, tie askew, and blurt, "Folks, I need a mega-order—gyros for the gang, falafel for the finicky one, and enough hummus to fill a kiddie pool!" The owner, bless his soul, didn't bat an eye; he just chuckled and said, "No problem, we're pita pros!" In record time, they whipped up this massive spread without skimping on the freshness. It was like watching a pit crew at a NASCAR race, but with tzatziki instead of tires. I walked out with bags heavier than my golf clubs, and the kids devoured it like it was the last supper. "What do you call a big order at closing time? A pita-ful miracle!" Ha! These guys turned my potential dad-fail into a heroic tale.

First off, the atmosphere: This joint is smaller than my tool shed, with just a handful of tables inside and a few more out front where you can people-watch the highway hustle. It's quaint, like that cozy corner of your garage where you hide from the kids. The owners are family folks, and they greet you like you're the long-lost uncle who tells bad puns at reunions. I walked in and said, "Hey, is this the pita stop?" They laughed—politely, but hey, a dad's gotta try!

Now, onto the food, where the real magic happens. I ordered the classic gyro platter, and whoa, Nelly, it was so packed with tender lamb, fresh veggies, and that creamy tzatziki sauce, it had me spinning like a top! "Gyro, gyro on the wall, who's the tastiest of them all?" This one, hands down. The pita was fluffy and warm, not like those store-bought ones that taste like cardboard from the Stone Age. I added a side of hummus—smooth as my dance moves at a wedding—and some falafel that was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Falafel? More like "fala-full" of flavor! And don't get me started on the Greek salad; those olives were so briny, I felt like I was swimming in the Mediterranean. "Olive" the options here, but if you're watching your waistline like I pretend to, go for the grilled chicken souvlaki—it's skewer-licious!

Service-wise, these folks are faster than me mowing the lawn on a Saturday. My order came out hot and fresh in under 10 minutes, and they even threw in extra napkins because, as a dad, I spill more than I admit. Prices? Wallet-friendly—about $10-15 per meal, which leaves room for that impulse baklava. Speaking of which, their baklava is nuttier than my Uncle Bob's conspiracy theories, flaky and sweet enough to make your sweet tooth do the cha-cha.

Pita Plus is a hidden gem on the highway to happiness. If you're cruising through Greer and craving authentic Mediterranean grub with a side of smiles, pull over pronto. It's not just food; it's a pita party! I'd give it 5 out of 5 dad thumbs up. Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got to go tell the wife about this place—before she hears my...

Edit:

Their Philly cheese steak and chilly Philly are great. They come fully loaded with so many fresh toppings. You can’t beat a big full sandwich and a side Greek salad for $12.99 it’s cheaper than fast food now a days. Plus the owner is an absolute gem ❤️

We’ve been patiently waiting for them to open! I love Mediterranean food and haven’t found any decent places near us.

I’m delighted to say the food is so good! I got the chicken shwarma and added onion, and got a side of tzatziki and it was delicious, tender chicken, lots of flavor, the garlic sauce is heavenly!

Their fries are really good but I’m going to get the Greek salad next time, my husband got it and it was delicious!

My husband got the traditional gyro and normally gyro meat isn’t my favorite, but I did try a bite and it was absolutely so good, I would order one for myself.

Everything was fresh and flavorful!

We were given complimentary falafels and I loved them!

We will be...

Pita Plus is hands down the best pizza near us off Wade Hampton in Greer. This was our 1st visit, had to get pizza as we're always looking for a good pizza place near our home. With Pita Plus' proximity, we had high hopes. Whenever trying a new pizza place, we always get a simple pepperoni. I feel it is a great way to judge the quality of the sauce and cook on the crust so we ordered a 16" pepperoni and a 16" supreme cause why not? Very good, even the kids loved it, and they are very picky about their pizza. Perfect amount of sauce, wonderfully seasoned, and the chew on the thin crust was great. The quality and freshness of the toppings is evident. Very pleased, it was so good by the time I had a chance to take a picture it was gone! Will...
