Have Our Doctors Resorted to Mob Style Threats and Extortion?
I facilitated Groveton Family Medical Clinic in Texas for over 6 years getting CBCs or blood counts without any objections from PA Keith Edward Jones except that he continually asked me to let him be my Primary Care Physician. I refused because he stated that he did not know anything about my rare bleeding disorder, Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT).
I have had standing orders for over 3 years by my Hematologist and PCP (renewed each year) for CBC as needed with Groveton Family Medical Clinic. On Monday, 4-8-2024, I went to GFMC for the follow up CBC but, this time the Lab Technician came to the waiting room and said Dr. Jones was refusing to allow me to get my CBCs at this clinic unless I allowed him to be my Primary Care Physician, meaning more money for him.
I used this clinic for over 3 years, therefore THIS REASON TO BAN ME FROM GFMC UNLESS I AGREED TO ALLOW HIM TO BE MY PCP, CONSTITUTES PATIENT EXTORTION AND QUID-PRO-QUO AGAINST A PATIENT.
This clinic is the only one within 50 miles that has a CBC machine and can give me a complete blood count within 2 minutes. Time is essential and warrants a “NEED” for their timely CBC machine when I’ve lost 5 to 7 units of blood within 24 hours. PA Keith Jones knows this and used this to try and force me to allow him to be my PCP or else not allow me to facilitate his Clinic, creating a hardship for me and a threat to my life and health.
Without a base blood count STAT, I could have organ failure, a stroke, heart attack or die from a major bleed. Frequent Blood Counts for me are absolutely imperative.
What happened to the Doctor’s Hippocratic Oath to do no harm? Has greed overtaken the care of us Patients? I’m in my 70s so this would also constitute Elderly...
Read moreNot long ago, I discovered I had a tumor in my left eye. I was told I needed an in-network referral in order to see the cancer specialists that could help me. Thus began my mostly negative experience with battling insurance companies. Through sheer luck, it turned out the one doctor's office around here that my insurance would cover just happened to be Groveton Family Medical. So, faced with no other options, I scheduled an appointment there and went to see them, fully expecting to be told they couldn't help me. Boy, was I wrong. From the minute I walked in the door, I knew this place was different. I can honestly say that if not for the wonderful staff there, I'd likely still be sitting around waiting on referrals and dealing with insurance headaches. These people not only made me feel like I was their only patient, they also took it upon themselves to go the extra mile and directly contact my insurance company to make things happen for me. There was one day in particular that two different employees there stayed on the phone with my insurance company for seven whole hours to get me the very best help possible. If any of you are looking for a place where you will be treated like a priority as opposed to "just another patient", I cannot recommend this place highly enough. They have helped me so much when it would have been easier for them to send me somewhere else and save themselves the headache. I know this status is reaching novel lengths so I'll end it here. Just know that their staff helped me through the roughest part of my life and renewed my faith in our medical system. I just can't say enough good...
Read moreJust had my first visit with Dr Keith Jones at this clinic. (PAC is his actual title I suppose) I've always been really uncomfortable with Dr's. I usually feel quite anxious and nervous no matter how long I've been going to the same provider. I was anticipating that awful feeling of, just state your business and bolt on out as soon as possible! Much to my surprise, I almost instantly felt very comfortable and the nervousness anticipated wasn't there. I know that he was running quite late and he apologized for that. (That's a first in my experience.) Regardless of the schedule, Dr Jones took the time to really talk to me. I felt heard and understood. And he has quite a robust sense of humor which I greatly appreciate. I just recently moved to Texas and I did have a bit of a difficult time finding clinic who was willing to meet my specific needs so I'm so grateful to have met Keith Jones and establish care for the future. I honestly couldn't be happier or feel more comfortable and for that I'm very grateful!! Highly...
