Abbott's Candies — Local services in Hagerstown

These are the best "small batch"..."hand made" caramels that can be found. My wife and I have been fans of Abbott's for years and just found the location where they are produced from seeing a Billboard on I-70 in Indiana near the Hagerstown exit. We were fortunate enough to be there at an off time and the owner, himself, showed us around. We were also introduced to the chocolates they make...wonderful as you would expect...and bought gifts for everyone we were planning to see on our business trip. Hated to leave, but we wore out the owner and we still had a long drive to make. Well worth the 4 mile trip north of the interstate....

This is a great small town candy store and factory! And they candy is top notch and worth the price. My grandmother bought caramels here from the time I was little. If you only buy one thing - make sure it's the caramels! My daughter loves them from the first time she tasted one. She even said, I wish I could get the recipe for these! She loves to bake and cook. The people working there are friendly and even let us in 10 minutes before opening time. If the factory is running, you will even be able to watch them make the candy. A lot of good thins to say about this place, While the price point may seem high the product is of the highest quality. Abbot's Chocolate is mouth watering delicious, The carmel is beyond amazing and was treated with a sample coming into the shop. Patrons have a chance to see work in progress from view room. The employees are courteous and friendly and well knowledged of the candy and of the history of the place. The shop is amazing and beautiful. I highly recommend the Gizmo's In my opinion better than the "Turtle" brand. I have nothing bad to say about this...
