I have a 2014 Audi Q5. Let me just say that for years I told myself that I would never buy an Audi. Just because, I feel like you either love or hate an Audi. From the day I decided to purchase my Q5 I have fell in love with the my SUV! With that being said probably over the past 6-8 months I have experienced check engine light on, misfiring, rough starts, fast unintentional exceleration, rough idling. Also if I drove my car for about an half hour and turned off the engine. When I go to restart my car it would not turn over and last but not least I was losing power. So, I have been to two non-Audi mechanics. A few tweaks later same problem exist. Taken her to Audi for a diagnostic and was told I need to have the injectors replaced, timing chain, carbon cleaning. For a total cost of 6500.00. I was at my wits end with the problem just getting worse. One day during my travels. I was detoured down First ave in Hamilton and I literally stumbled upon European Motorworks. Instantly, I take to Google to begin reading the review and nothing but good things I'm reading. I finally decided to take me car in to be diagnosed. I pull up and there are already about three people waiting to drop their cars off. Good feeling so far! I walk up to Alex the owner and tell him a little bit about what's going and and he told me to pull her in and he would take a look. No hesitation!! After getting all of the error codes he begins to triage and comes up with a place to start for fixing my car. Alex takes the time to explain his process and what would be the best effective plan with out breaking the bank. I schedule to bring my car back a week later today. Long story short! MY BABY IS FIXED!!!! Alex was thorough provided video and walked me through each step of everything he did. No check engine light and she is driving like a dream!! Alex is a Godsend and he has gained a loyal customer for life!!! Anyone who has an Audi and has hit a brick wall and not sure where to turn. Bring your car to European Motoworks at 63 First Ave., Hamilton NJ 08690!! Your problem will be fixed and your bank account...
Read moreSomeone recommended Alex at European Motorworks to me after I had a very negative experience with Audi Princeton and this recommendation was the best thing that could have happened. I gave European Motorworks a call and Alex said he could take me that same day to replace the water pump and battery of my 2015 Audi A4 (he also had a quote ready in that moment which revealed Audi Princeton was upcharging by $2,000). I was immediately relieved.
When I came in to have the car fixed, Alex took the time to show me the various parts we were discussing and how he would fix them. This alone is above and beyond the type of service you get at the dealership. Since I am not a mechanic but I appreciate clear and careful explanations, I felt like I could fully trust Alex with my car. He had the work done in one business day and when I came to pick up the vehicle, he walked me through what he had done (showed me videos of the car engine when he had it opened up) and demonstrated why and how the quotes and explanations from the dealership had been careless and at times misleading: they’d told me my battery had “failed” when in reality it had a few months left; they’d inaccurately diagnosed the leaking water pump problem and were trying to charge me for a part that actually was in good condition (the thermostat inside the water pump). Alex also gave me further tips about how to keep the engine/coolant tank in good health going forward (again, not something Audi Princeton had bothered to say) and showed me how the parts fit together on an engine that was out in his shop. I learned a lot just from a few moments in there!
I am so grateful for the time and considerate service that Alex at European Motorworks provides: he has just gained a customer for life! He is great at explaining to a nonspecialist and is clearly smart and good at what he does. I’m never returning to the dealership and wish I had known about this place sooner....
Read moreAfter recently buying a VW Eos for my daughter, I brought the car to Alex to diagnose an issue related to a sound coming from the engine when the car was under load, and also to have him see if the humming sound I was hearing from the rear of the car was a bad hub bearing or a tire issue.
The engine noise turned out to be a broken metal clamp on the turbo (v band clamp) and the humming sound was a bad bearing. He had everything fixed very quickly (car was done in one day) and even though he could not find a source for the broken clamp, he had one in his garage on another turbo so he pulled the part from his stock and fixed the car with it. He didn’t even charge me for the part.
Very solid and honest work, and excellent communication on all of the aspects of the repair. Highly recommend this shop, and you can bring your car there with...
