Make it part of your stop in Hamlet to learn about a disappearing part of our country's history. See a great collection of railroad items and don't be afraid to chat it up with the volunteers there (they're pretty nice and have a lot of information to share)

A cool musem with model trains and other things on display and a little gift shop. Infact they are the ones responsible for putting the display train near the station. And they have a vendor on seaboard day (the last saterday of october)

Great place with lots of hands on exhibits, if you like trains and Hamlet this is one of the best places to learn just a bit more.

Wheelchair friendly? Sort of. You can explore the main building but getting into the barn where the thrift shop is might be a big of a challenge. While there are make-shift ramps, they prove difficulties getting over the edges. So bring someone strong to really give you a boost! Stroller friendly? Yeah! Id say so. Spacious enough to navigate and make some turns. With the right stroller (off roading wheels!), you can easily make it into the barn. Kid friendly? Depends on the kid. Are they really into railroading? Id say go for it! Not really into railroading and just want to sit in a train? Maybe not for you.. Hours are funky as well. I believe, now dont quote me, that its weekends only from 1-5? I could be mistaken but from what we understood, that was the case. Admission is free but please consider donating to the museum. Every bit keeps this bit of history alive for all to love and enjoy!

It wasnt what we expected but with a railroader enthusiast in the family, we absolutely had to stop in to say hi and look around. Parking is funky but not impossible. You just have lots of "do i park here or..?" Once figured out (we parked along the gate), head inside to be greeted with railroad artifacts and like-minded people. While there was no one there during our visit, it was still great to chat with the locals who "man the shop". This gift shop is where we spent most of our time trying to pick the right souvenir. We couldn't decide so we picked almost everything 😂 affordable, too! Souvenir tshirt was $15! The barn side is where they have a little.. almost odd?.. thrift shop. Hardly any of it is railroading related, seems to be just "junk" but thats the beauty of thrifting. Nothing is junk to the right eyes! The left side is the thrift shop while the right side of the barn is more railroading stuff. Bigger items are located out here and cool spaces to check out ans step back in time. This part is not wheelchair friendly, even regardless of the ramps. Navigating the twists and turns will get you stuck. So wheelchair users and atroller pushers, beware. Overall, it was an awesome experience! You feel as if you stepped back in time to see the "good ol' days" of railroading. While there are no full scale trains on the premises, plenty of "real" trains still chug through the town not too far from here.

10/10 would go again. Theres plenty there to explore that we didnt get the chance to look at the first time. So a second trip is worth it to see the stuff we missed or brushed over...
