Addendum to my review as the store is being misleading again in their response below.
I contacted the store within 24 hours. Their delay in responding and communicating next steps is what caused the delay.
The chair we asked for WAS NOT the model on the floor, so that is a lie. Again. We specifically were told there were two new chairs on-site in a box. That is what we chose. They switched it
I was the one who declined replacing the chair because as they were dragging their feet on responding, a cat did scratch it and I didn't think it was right to return a scratched chair.
ORIGINAL REVIEW
Leaving a negative review is a first for me but the treatment from the owner and condescending attitude from a woman I was told is a manager, is so disappointing, it's important people know how dishonest the people running Currier's choose to be.
I brought my mother to get a leather recliner. She was so excited, told her friends, sent emails, was counting the days until delivery. Then delivery day came. She was over the moon. Her sister was there and immediately noticed there was a flaw in the stitching that deformed the shape of the arm of the chair. I called Currier's that evening and left a message.
Three days go by. I get a call back but no real guidance besides I'm told to email some photos.
After multiple phone calls and emails, I get an email vaguely saying they don't see the problem and enjoy the chair.
So I took more photos and went to the store.
I was told they didn't see the problem. Kept trying to compare what was wrong to natural variations rather than defective stitching. Then the owner said we could pay movers another $250 to bring it back and he would just give it away or sell the old chair at a discount. Knowing full well no one would drop another $250 to get it there and another $250 to have the replacement chair brought home.
I suggested a discount and he sneered and said it's not worth the $5 or $10... Intentionally trying to minimize the issue.
Then I was told I missed the 24 hour return window, which is a lie. I have the date stamp in my cell phone record and the delivery receipt.
Then to make matters so much worse, I looked back on photos from when we were looking at the floor model. We were asked that day if she wanted to buy the floor model which she said clearly, no.
The photo of the floor model matches the same defect in the chair that she has in her home now.
They sold her the floor model and lied to me today when they told me they sold us a brand new chair. I'm disgusted.
The business conduct and just basic human decency is so deficient at this business. Avoid it...
Read moremy parents went in a few weeks back to purchase a new set of couches. found a set, agreed to a deal (50% off) and wrote a check.
My mom went back in by herself a few days later to make some changes and get a higher grade leather for the set.
when she asked if she would be able to have the higher grade at the same 50% rate she was quoted for all grades, the older owner/ manager got involved.
he stated that the quote and discounted rate that was agreed to and that they accepted deposit on, was "old and incorrect", and went on to blame his salesperson (a huge red flag). he then went on to offer 45% off- which, if a company can offer that much off or even 50% off- they are way overcharging.
after showing him the paper, with his salespersons numbers and math on there and the advertised discount, the owner/manager grabbed it out of my mothers hands and crumpled it up.
not only is this unprofessional, but it is a disgusting way to treat a woman; and i guarantee that if there was a man there - this guy would not have the guts to do that.
i will say he was able to process the order cancelation quickly, which was the highpoint of the interaction.
Currier's has lost my parents and the rest of our families and friends business due to...
Read moreBought a leather reclining chair on a holiday weekend on approval for the color. We were not sure the color was correct. We specifically told the owner that. We had 3 days to return it for a full refund. The chair was delivered on a Friday of a holiday weekend. We tested the chair in our living room for two days and realized it just wasn't the correct color. We bought the chair off the floor, it was not a special order. We thought Curriers was closed on Sunday because it was a holiday weekend so we waited until Monday to call. When we did we were told it had been 3 days and we could not return it for another color!. So we drove over there and spoke with the owner and he said he was sorry but that was their policy. We reminded him that the chair was on the floor and was not a special order and that we would order another chair and pay for the delivery back to the store. But he adamantly refused. It was unbelievable. We were treated poorly and we had bought a leather couch and matching reclining club chair and ottoman years earlier from him and were very pleased. Really...
