This was my last visit.
I'm a busy man so I waited two weeks and held some pocket money before I Stopped by 3-2-1 Goodies in Killeen to check for old machines with hard drives. Outdated systems, obsolete models, the usual. I’ve done this many times before without issue.
This time, a man I’ve never seen approached and told me, “I don’t want you opening any of these.” No greeting. No conversation. Just instructions.
He asked, “Are you allowed to open things in stores?” "Yes , select stores of this kind allow customers to inspect items, especially when they ask." That’s what anyone does before buying.
I reminded him I’d opened equipment here before. He replied, “Yeah, I know. You opened that old cable box.” So if he knew that, there was nothing to question.
Then came the real reason: “I don’t know what you’re going to do when you open this.” That told me everything. This wasn’t about policy. It was about an assumption.
If there’s a rule about not opening machines, that’s fine. But it should be stated clearly and with respect and delivered without unnecessary attitude. Especially when someone’s there to spend money.
I’d been waiting two weeks to make that visit. I was prepared to talk pricing, explain what I was looking for, and help them move obsolete machines. The Optiplex 7010 is long past its end-of-life, can’t handle modern applications, and only has a 500GB drive. I wasn’t asking for anything unreasonable--I just didn’t get the chance to explain it.
I’m not angry and I’m not mad at the man—(I don’t even know). But I am disappointed. Not just in the customer service, but in the way a grown man chose to carry himself in that moment.
...Brother, you missed out on a hundred bucks that day. There were things I was ready to buy. I came in with money to spend...and you killed that over nothing. Not policy. Not damaged. Just failure to communicate. That’s not just bad business. That’s...
Read moreIt's a great place to find some great deals on slightly used items you didn't know you were going to buy. 1,2,3 Goodies is slightly over-crowded, but you will find your way around the well organized building to find so many items at great prices. The staff is friendly and enthusiastic. They will also tell you prices ARE negotiable, which is the kind of sales pitch my ears want to hear during these...
Read moreFirst off there is no number to call. It was plugged in but she said that the coloration was a bit blue, which that was fine with me. No mention of it being jumpy and turning off 2 minutes into playing a DVD. If it worked I would’ve got a fantastic deal BUT it don’t so I feel as if I got robbed. My fault I guess for trusting the color was the...
