Island Garden Center — Local services in Hatteras Island

Since moving here a year ago I have shopped here a few times now. The young man that works there is always very knowledgeable about plants and very helpful. There is a new gentleman who started this spring and is always pleasant and helpful. Every visit, I spend between $100-200.00 there. After spending about $150.00 today I noticed that they had "yardsale" items...I was ready to spend another $100.00 plus...but then the owner came out and was so rude...had to be cash, not a check or bank card. Then I proceeded to hear how her daughter just pays cash at yard sales, etc. I was so turned off by her attitude and demeanor that I will not go back. What an amazing nursery. Bought an orchid but they have tons of fun and exotic plants in stock. Awesome prices as well on plants and pots/soil/supplies. Also the man working (sorry I forget his name) was super friendly and one of the reasons I went back again the next day. Luckily for me they just got another shipment of exotic orchids in from Hawaii that morning so I got first dibs on some awesome hard-to-find ones. I am from out of state and recently had my wedding on the beach in Hatteras. I stopped by in search of flowers. The lovely gentleman working that day was so kind and helpful. Not only did I have beautiful flowers for the wedding, but he also made sure that they would do well in our area when we plant them in the ground when we return home.
