I recently used a week-long membership during my vacation at this facility. In general it will meet everyone's needs. The hours for daily and week long memberships run from 5:30 to 11:30. Initially I thought this would be inconvenient but it turns out I was done with my workout by 8 a.m. most days. When I was there it was not very busy, and on one morning I even had the place for myself for about 45 minutes. I would say if there are more than 10 people at this facility in a given time it could seem a little crowded as it's not the largest space but as it was there were six of us working out on one day and no one really got in anyone else's way. If you are looking for a spa type facility , this is not it. Fitness is the purpose and the place is laid out to allow you to achieve your goals. About the only complaint that I heard anyone else in the facility mentioning was the lack of AC, but the reality is I rather enjoyed the open-air with the back door up. Not to mention my local gym is a much less welcoming environment so this seemed great and very clean and well-kept. On my first day checking in I was welcomed and made to feel right at home. Because space is at such a premium in this facility, expect to set up benches that are stored neatly along the wall and possibly wait to utilize a piece of equipment. Equipment in the facility is definitely workable. There is a nice total body type machine at one end of the facility and 2 power racks at the other end. Adjacent to the power racks is a cable crossover that had multiple attachments for various bars, straps, etc. A Wide-range dumbbells, several Olympic bars, a few Rogue axles, a hex bar, plyo boxes , several kettlebells and various other bars and bar attachments are available. Of the four days I worked out, I never felt like I wanted more. There were several folks there doing CrossFit Style workouts and a few folks doing your traditional power / Olympic type lifts. Again, this is a Bare Bones, purpose-built facility, and you won't be disappointed, unless you are hoping for that Spa type...

I work virtually and have lived all over the United States and have had memberships at many different gyms. This gym makes the list of one of my favorite places to workout and let me tell you why.
It is small and cozy but has an awesome "work hard" feel. This gym isn't a machine farm or heard of treadmills, this gym has some good old classic heavy weights with a kick ass large garage door.
I love working out with the large door open and the space to myself. Even though it can get crowded at times, everyone is super fun and friendly.
The owner thoughtfully placed the benches, weights and equipment strategically on the walls to open up the floor space. This is so cool in my opinion. I love the clean feel of that organization and like the open space.
If I was living on Hatteras island longer I would have an annual gym membership for sure. I compared them to Avons Koru gym....and I was not impressed.

Read moreVacationing in Hatteras and looked for a day pass gym. If you've been out here, there isn't much available if you aren't looking for just beautiful beaches. I stumbled upon this place after seeing a simple "GYM" flag at the end of the driveway.
After a Google search, I went to the website and texted the number listed. Got a response quickly, and signed up for a week pass. I was able to get there for 3 workouts (Hurricane Ian stopped me from getting out there, due to flooded roads).
This place is amazingly simple and perfect for working out. Code gets you in, and it has all of the equipment that you need. Dumbbells, racks, kettlebells, boxes, bars, sleds, slam balls, wall balls, and a couple of pulley machines. It feels like the best CrossFit type gym.
I wish I lived closer. This would be my...
