Let me just start off by saying I'm an Esthetician MYSELF! But I had not time to do my own waxing before a function I needed to be at that night. So I went to Kim's to do an Eyebrow & under-arm wax. Heard they were the best in town. Kim's sister did my service. I got into the room & the bed was against the wall? Assuming she was going to pull the bed out so she has room to get all angles of both my eyebrows & underarms I sit on the chair & wait. She then tells me to get on the bed against the wall I now have to adjust MYSELF to help her get the right angles & reach where she needs to reach! She tells me she's doing my eyebrows first so I lay down. She starts my wax with out a drape (towel over my chest to protect my clothing) or a cleans! She goes with her first application of wax. It was warm at first but begins to get hot! So I do what anyone in this situation would do & notify her. She turns to the pot, sticks the USED popsicle stick back INTO the wax pot, then turns back to me & tells me the wax pot only has TWO SETTINGS.. On & Off!? She proceeds to clean up my brows & puts an entire hand full of petroleum jelly on my brows!! She used a boat load of tissue paper to wipe it off. Then tells me to take my T-shirt off. No privacy at all just stands there as I'm taking my shirt off. Again no drape or cleans but has me roll over to place a paper towel under Me? Mind you she is using hard wax to remove my unwanted hair. It makes the least amount of mess if you know what you're doing. She again dips a USED stick in the pot, carries the stick WITH wax OVER my head & hair, places the wax under my arms & begins to pick at the wax to remove it. You're actually supposed to make a tab below the hair to pick at so you don't hurt your client as much. Now it's time to remove the wax it isn't hard enough just yet but she still starts removal. The wax is breaking into pieces so instead of one nice big removal she's PICKING at all the little patches she made because the wax wasn't hard enough yet! Oh did I forget to mention the wax is STILL HOT! I notify her & what does she do? She BLOWS on the wax!!!! Definately NOT Okay! Fastfoward to the ending. She again puts big BLOBS of petroleum jelly on my underarms & uses a ton of tissues to wipe it off. I'm now looking in the mirror to check on everything.. I still have some hair under my arms & my eyebrows have absolutely NO shape. As well as some wax in my brow hairs! At this point I am completely over it & if I stay any longer to have her fix it I will become a very UNHAPPY PERSON. So I now have to go home & clean up everything she missed. I paid a big fat $40 dollars for the worst wax experience of my life. The students at my esthetics school did a better job than this!!
PLEASE remember that this is a WAXING expirence. I have NEVER done my nails here so I'm not sure how their nail services are. Don't knock it till you try it. But I will definately not refer anyone here for...
Read moreBeen going to Nails by Kim for the past year, after another local salon closed. Initially, the service was great. Felt like we were valued customers and the designs I received weren't anything crazy but they at least looked nice.
The past three pedicures have not been good at all. Each service for the past few months has been fast (30 minutes or less) and the designs have either been not what was asked for or poor quality. Today's pedicure was, unfortunately, the worst I've had at this salon, which breaks my heart. I asked for a gold glitter tip and a gold line. Not once did the salon say they couldn't do anything like that design....instead they did the design. It came out horrible. The lines weren't straight, half of one toe had paint covering the line. The glitter tip wasn't anything like I had shown in a picture. I wish the salon had told me that was not a service they could provide instead of what I received. I would have rather had a similar design that the technician was comfortable with than what I did receive.
Beyond the design, my basic color coat didn't even cover the whole nail. This is the second time this has happened. It makes my pedicure look like it's already grown out of the paint.
Unfortunately, the person I went with is also not pleased with her pedicure either. Although the color looks pretty, it appears like there weren't enough coats of paint layered on the toes as the color is transparent, which is not what was asked for. She didn't get any designs, so no feedback there.
$100+, but no longer going back to this salon. We tried, hoping some experiences were just bad days but it has gotten worse. Hopefully the salon can get back to the relaxing, high quality pedicures we experienced last year. Everyone who sees Kim for manicures seems so pleased though! Maybe someday I'll come back to try that experience as this salon had come recommended to us more than once. Thank you, Kim for always accommodating us and for the time we have had at the salon. Wishing you and your family...
Read moreI received the best gel manicure/pedicure I've ever had in my life here. I did have to wait about 45 minutes as a walk-in, and pay with cash only. Regardless, I was visiting from North Carolina, and I am truly saddened that this nail salon is 5,000 miles away! I would never go anywhere else if I could. It has been over 3 weeks, and my gel polish hasn't lifted, chipped, or cracked. The manicurist did not apply it overly thick either, so the final result is...
