From the beginning until the end it was a clusterfcuk of a $hitty experience. When I called to make a reservation the Castle resorts person I talked to was absolutely rude and told me there were no rooms available. When I told her I looked online and it says there was one showing she changed her tune. I was taken aback by the $189 she quoted for a Kamaaina rate on Wednesday night. She made it sound like I won the lottery, I needed to see my doctor nearby so I had to eat the cost. When I got in, nobody was at the desk and it was still before 8:00PM. I did get my keys from the lockbox which was OK. Finally I settled in for sleeping , unfortunately that was not going to be possible because Frodo Baggins and his village of Hobbits, the big feet kind, were apparently staying above me. Running around making a lot of noises! I called their non-emergency "emergency number" written on the welcome sheet because there is no Hotel staff after 8:00PM. Guess what, a man from Nashville, TN was extremely pissed off because I was calling him at 4:00AM his time! I double checked, the hotel wrote the wrong EMERGENCY number. I called another number written at the hotel office, Nobody picked up the phone but from what I read from the reviews here, nobody really answers that number. It seems the lazy staff just takes a paycheck and dont give a rats a$$ about the distressed guest. For $189 a night, I expected a better service, even Motel 6 at $49 a night provides excellent service. I wont be staying there again, in fact I will dispute the charge with my credit card, because I was NOT able to sleep and NOT provided basic hotel service. I tried calling for the problem and NOBODY I mean NOBODY answered the phone. (well except a random sleepy man from Nashville) It was ...
Read moreSadly there are not many options in Waimea for a one night stay and I got desperate and booked a night here. The Lodge was VERY old and dingy. Smell of mold, mildew and disinfectant hit me like a fist when I opened the door to my room. I opened the door and all the windows to try to air the place out during the day but could not keep the circulation going at night because on the first floor, this is a security issue. My friends actually insisted on walking me into my room later that night because it seemed so scary. ||||To add insult to injury, when I arrived at noon, I was told I could not check in until 3pm without an additional charge even though my room was clean, ready and unoccupied. Talk about a bad business decision. It costs them nothing to let me put my bags in the room that is ready for me. I was forced to kill 3 hours and return later. ||||When I booked the room, there was an online rate of $125/night. But when I called the hotel directly, I was told the rate was $211. When I pointed out the discrepancy, they at first balked but later acquiesced and honored the web price. ||||Once I got to the hotel and saw the conditions - stained carpets, mildew stained linoleum in bathroom, sagging, thin mattress, old polyester blend sheets, bad smells, etc.I felt like I had been ripped off even at $125. It was really a $70 dive hotel room.||||Apparently Castle Resorts is taking over. Let's hope they plow a lot of money into a remodel, policy reviews, and staff training. Would not recommend anyone stay at this place until...
Read moreI had stayed at Waimea Country Inn in the past, but will never stay again. The manager, Christine G., is absolutely horrendous. After reporting broken fixtures in my room (that caused me to fall), she accused me of breaking them and threatened to charge me for damages. She refused to refund me for my stay, failed to contact me back (as she said sheswould), despitet thefact that I sent pictures of the broken fixtures and had stayed there multiple times in the past with no complaints. She hung up with me on the phone, and then refused to answer my subsequent calls. When she finally got fed up with my calling, she answered, threatened to charge me for damages, then put me on hold for 5 minutes before hanging up on me again. When I called back, the front desk lady said she had stepped out. This is supposed to be a manager in a customer service industry. What an embarrassment. I would have been satisfied with a polite conversation, perhaps a discount on my next stay (since I stay in Waimea weekly), but instead I am left absolutely disgusted. What a shameful human being - if her family member had stayed in a room that was dirty, had to be moved to another one because of it, and fallen in the second room because of how unsafe the fixtutes in the bathtub were, I wonder how she would feel? She was rude, condescending, devoid of empathy, and belongs in an industry where human interaction is not a critical part...
