The land & lake are beautiful! The vender area was very nice & well kept. The rhododendron garden was nice & also well kept. The campsites are decent size. The paved sites aren't near as level as they look. We parked over a huge ant bed. We later noticed our neighbors also had their own ant bed & later went to the store for any spray as they were in their camper. The fire ring was grown up & full of garbage. The grass was as tall as the picnic tables where when they did last cut, nothing was moved or weedeated. We saw several dead trees we were thankful we didn't park under cause I see dead limbs falling soon. The sites are not clearly marked. The numbers are on the power poles but those are so low to the ground & not easily seen. Which brings me to if you have a surge protector, it will lay in the ground due to the extremely short power poles. I want so bad to give this beautiful place a 5 star but the very poor maintenance of the place makes that impossible. I didn't see a bathhouse so I can't speak on those. We cleaned out the fire pit & killed some ants. We didn't bring our mower but we still tried to leave it better than...
Read moreBeautiful campground on a beautiful lake. Seriously needs a security patrol to enforce the rules. This place should be renamed Georgia Mountain Dog Park. Several inconsiderate dog owners ruin it for everyone else. Someone in a"security" car drivers around and does nothing about it. Fast driving through the park is pretty bad too. It has worse Wi-Fi thana Third World country. Steaming TV is usually terrible due to the poor Wi-Fi. The grass mowing is virtually non existent. We had a place in the lake and I had to bring a weed eater from home to cut it, 4 different times. The grass near the bath houses is over a foot tall. May 2025 rented a spot on the lake for the whole month. Very unlevel and tiny lot. Firepit over half full of mud. Weeds and mud due to lack of gravel. The WiFi is virtually non existent and the fairgrounds passes the buck with complaints to the company that they bought their routers thru and it’s never improved in the past several years. Biggest complaint after the WiFi issue is the very poor designs and maintenance of the lots. The lake is the real only plus...
Read moreThis was our first camping trip in the toy hauler and we absolutely loved it here. We called a few days before arriving, were taking a last minute trip the weekend before July 4th (we actually checked out July 3rd to head home). Had left a message 2 days prior and the lady called us back stating she had a site for us and rates. Great deal. We got a site located in area 2 which was close to the water. Site was very nice with full hook ups. We decided to stay an extra night which they were fine with however the weather was not as kind. Not sure if it was ever decided that a tornado came through or if it was a microburst or what but definitely a scary moment. Within minutes after it was over and safe we ventured outside to find many people had suffered damage and one man was injured. The campground attendant took him to the hospital and everyone else began working together the clear downed trees from roads and campsites. It really was amazing how the staff and everyone came together to help each other. We did ride though area 1 and did not like it at all. Area 2 is the way to go...
