I attempted to return an item I bought online. It was a body innovations massager. The reason I bought this massager is because I have intense shoulder pain. When I received this item I did open the box, put in the batteries to try to see the power the massager had. The massaging action was not adequate. The massaging action was more in line with a massage if you would do on the face.
I returned per the instructions this item to the store, when I arrived the sales associate told me I could not return the item at the store. I showed her on my phone where it indicated I could return the item to the store.
A manager by the name of Billy, was nearby. When he arrived he told me that when he scanned the item on the box it wasn't the item I had arrived with. Although when he scanned the barcode on my phone it did come up in his system as a purchase I made online. Billy said, The item in the Box did not match the barcode on the box.
It was apparent at this time that whomever sent the item sent the incorrect item. Billy the store manager said, "I can tell you have used this massager." I then asked why he would draw this conclusion and he said, "There is hair on the top of this item." I was honest, and told him I did put this item on my bed to remove the batteries as well as insert the batteries into the massager. A little blindsided, I did not add that I did turn the massager on & put it in the palm of my hand. I could immediately tell it was not powerful enough to penetrate the muscles between my shoulder blade.
I do have a fur baby that is often on my bed, & it did resonate with me that perhaps the hair stuck to the item when I placed it on the bed. In fairness, I did not notice the hair until he brought it to my attention. I went to the ladies room & pulled out a tissue. I was able to rub the hair off the massager with this tissue & also used soap and water to clean the top. I purchased a heavy duty massager at another Walmart with cash. This is why I opted to return the massager.
IMO, Billy did not want to return the item because he felt I had used it, (this was a huge assumption on his part, not a fact). Not a wise decision to insinuate that a customer was lying & used the product when indeed I did not. I would have no problem admitting if I did use the item.
I asked him what my options were, & he gave me a blank stare. I asked to speak to his manager & he informed me he was the store manager. Also Billy said, I needed to call Walmart.com.
What an epic fail on his part making an assumption. It is not only fair & courteous, but good customer service to ask if the item was used rather than assuming it was used. What he doesn't know, is I am an honest person & if I had used it I would have taken responsibility.
How in the world can he be the manager of Walmart in Hempstead, Texas? The adage holds true, "treat others as you would want to be treated". If Billy was being honest & someone had assumed he was being dishonest what message would that send? So disappointed in this Walmart but most importantly in Billy. In fairness, I should have checked to the item thoroughly before returning it. Even if he hadn't assumed I used the item he would not have accepted the return. Thank you for allowing me to share my experience. No matter, whoever finds this review I wish you & Billy a good evening. Do better Billy b/c you were wrong to assume I use the item when 100% didn't. Have a blessed...

Right before i left i asked another employee she was not sure how to lie but she was still kind and lied in gentle way but when i went to the car not that the item box was sliding open by itself notice that the item was already been tampered with, i was going to ignore it but thinking about it if i bought something used i should be charge the price for a used item but when i went back no one wanted to help some tried to give me the run around but it sad how quick they where to give me something that was open some of the employees did tried to help me like the lady from customer service and another employee that was it when the lady from customer service was having issues with the system Billy got involved and tried to tell me i could not return the item but when i told him that if that was the case i was willing to return the item made a face and was looking at me like i had taken the item and i was the one that open the item not only some of his own employees mention the customer just bought it lest that 5 minutes Billy kept asking me why you want to exchange it? when i already answer that question and then he mention you can not exchange it thats when i was like oh no im not going to pay full retail for something that is not new Billy finally gave it which it was not easy and they he got was not something a so call manager should ask is not my fault his store is not being run the way it should be, go back to training or something to get this guy the right tools to talk to customer or have some type of customer services, end of story i got the item exchange something that was easy to do i was held for questioning by Billy when the receipt showed i had just walked out from his store and made it complicated to exchange something that THEY...
Read moreAnother Walmart that time forgot. It's very nostalgic however. Its old layaway counter has been glossed over with a new coat of paint & a change in function. None the less, I recognize the layout from my childhood, the cookie cutter pre-super Walmart floor plan they all had back in the day (I'm aware that I'm showing my age lol). This senior citizen of shopping days gone by is only surpassed in geriatric splendor by one location, Giddings. At least it's got a slightly better selection but being better than a stinking pile isn't much of an accomplishment, but who am I to judge? The employees were a mixed bag of helpful. Several of the young ladies working at least asked if needed assistance. Granted, they were almost at a jogging pace with both hands full so being helpful might be a stretch, but at least they pretended. They other "associates" sprinkled about seem to be unaware of my existence. At least it was clean, had a restroom I could use, & employed at least two cuties that help dull the sting of not having what I came in for in stock. Anyway you look at it, it's still better than...
