We adopted this little fellow today and his name is now Max. Very shy and a little nervous but holding up pretty well considering what he went through. He arrived at the shelter on October 7th, picked up as a stray and we adopted him today, the 14th, so we will be bringing him to his new home tomorrow afternoon after he is fixed. I cannot say enough good things about the staff at the shelter because they are awesome. Very good customer service, very sweet and friendly to us, as well as all of the animals in their care. The facility looks almost new because it is very clean and well kept and staffed with some of the greatest animal lovers in the high desert. They do everything in their power to rehabilitate animals for their new forever homes and only euthanize as a last resort, so if you are looking for an animal please seriously consider rescuing one of these beautiful loving animals. If you are considering a larger animal they have a beautiful, mild tempered pitbull down there named Blue and he looks to be a very sweet dog, but we could not take anything large so please pay a visit and take one of these wonderful souls home with you you and give them a loving home, because that is all they are waiting for.

I got my kitten from this animal shelter when she was about 10 weeks old when we got her she had poop all over her butt and she weighed almost a pound . When I brought her home she had diarrhea which I thought was normal being taken to a new environment and all but a week later she still had it , within that little time frame of having her , her hair starts falling out and her skin is flaking , mind you I’ve never dealt with this situation before , I have an older cat and never had issues with her , I took my kitten to the vet and I was told she had giardia and ringworm . My older cat and my whole family got ringworm because of her , they don’t inform you about anything I asked the lady when I adopted her if she was okay if there were any issues with her and they assured me there wasn’t which was a total lie when I brought her home I spent more on vet bills than I did on buying her , I will NEVER get an animal from this shelter , I paid $90 for my kitten with a refundable $40 for spaying , I’m not taking her back here ever again , I’ll be okay loosing $40 dollars than to risk my NOW healthy thriving kitten .

I usually give this place 5 stars but last night I around midnight I found two dogs running down the middle of 7th street near bear valley rd (where the arco is) so I called like I have 10 times in the past 10 years to let them know, after some trial and error that I got the dogs in my truck can they ask an officer to meet me and grab the dogs before they got killed in traffic?, I was told that they don't come out after hours for stray dogs in traffic and that I should let them go since I couldn't bring them back with me to my home. I was floored. I protested and asked how it is that they expected me to just leave them to possibly get run over, since these dogs were obviously someone's pets. In the end I cried and kept the dogs in my truck all night. Still waiting on a response from an animal control officer, I am completely disappointed in the young lady I spoke to last night.

any rating available less than 1 star? I was falsely accused of stealing...........battery......... but ROGER the security guard wasn't happy with me placing HIM under citizen's arrest for 'ringing the bell'--you see ROGER stole one bag of our paid for mdse.from our cart! Then to cover his axe, he claimed, "He had a gun; he said he had a gun, he said he was going home to get a gun and coming back to shoot/kill me." ALL LIES, my wife was there with me! Anyhow, adding 'gun' to a shoplifting / incident report automatically makes it a felony-arrest! So the SWAT team came and tasered ME 6 times, stomped on my bare feet, my knees and kicked me in the groin. Off to the hospital. MEANWHILE, the city of Hespermia's neo-Nazi, fascist Kkkode Enforcement TOOK our two dogs: Purebred Chacha the Chow chow; Cookie the Golden retriever; they took Dan's 3 cats: Squeekers, Q-T pie and Mollie McMeowMeow; they took Crystal's 1 cat Cuddles, they took Jeff's 1 cat Sable and they took wifey Grandma Cookie (JO)'s 5 cats: Blinky Boo-boo, Rascal, Bandit, Beebee, and 'nilla. These 'animals' were our friends, our companions, our 'children' if you will. We loved them LOVED THEM and fed, watered and had 7 clean cat boxes w/ clumpable litter, and a closed container on the left of each box for poop & pee. Plus we have 3 ionizer air cleaners! But Kkkode enforcement TOOK these precious, irreplaceable pets and KILLED them ("euthanized") on WHAT grounds? Since when does city of Hespermia care about our indoor only pets? Well, the old bag next door swears it is OUR cats pooping in her flower bed; dog eats it and gets sick = IMPOSSIBLE. ALL of our cats were INDOORS, always; they were neutered, had a collar, and we had them declawed. VS outdoor alley cats, feral / wild cats. NEXT, the KKKODE enforcement report: QUOTE "ALL of the carpet REEKED of feces and URINE." = a damnable lie. Too late now: WE would have PAID a no kill shelter to take our pets but NOOOO, they had to be killed by KKKode Enforcement. My wifey (JO) STILL cries when a pet food commercial comes on the TV. I rebuke the city of Hesperia's Code Enforcement in Jesus' name. Amen? FINALE: we had to rip out all of our carpet & padding. $1,000+ for new and then Kkkode Enforcement sent us a bill for $3,400 bucks for their 'staff hours' .!! Incredible but true. And Steve Williams over at the Daily Press Newspaper wasn't interested in...

I went in for two things but what I saw made me sick I don't think the staff noticed me or just didn't care because as I was bent down looking for a new pup that I could love and trian to be my new service animal, because I just lost my best friend and service animal that was the only thing I have in life. I heard a big painful cry from a scared to death pup. When I went to check it was smaller lab mix and this soulless girl was hanging the poor thing by a choke leash in the air thowing it in another kennel. While another staff member was begging and trying to stop her from hurting it. The girl that was trying to help was just a volunteer and you could tell was sick about it. The other one was yelling at her to stay out of it and yelling about how the dog spilt his food after she just put the food in the cage. And then she threatened the other girl too. I then left without her knowing I was there. That was when I had enough. The second thing is I've been having tons of stray cats coming around my house every night so I asked them if there was anything they could do. Like maybe set up some traps or something. They told me they don't do anything like that unless I rented the trap from them for 60 dollars a week. That's just nuts. Who in their right mind would do that when you could but one from harbor freight for 20. I could understand putting a deposit on one to use and maybe like 5 bucks a week the most to rent it if it would help the animals but not 60. There are good people there that care and I do appreciate them. Unfortunately when you could tell that the ones in charge are stopping anyone from fixing the abuse issue because they are the ones who are doing it. I understand being safe and how sometimes you have to get ruff and forceful to maintain control. But I also know abuse when I see it. The dog wasn't fighting at all. It was scared. To the blonde volunteer that tried to step in and help the dog. You truly are amazing I'm sorry you have to go through that and I'm sorry I wasn't able to get myself involved if I did I probably would have ended up having a flashback and going to jail. If everything goes well at my next Dr appointment and my dr allows me I'm going to try to volunteer there and give a voice to...

If I could give this place ZERO stars I would. There is proof of animal abuse, severe violence from the staff! The STAFF! This is supposed to be a safe place for animals. A place where animals are safe and it is an outrage that this place has not been shut down. All of these animals should have been removed years ago when the violence went viral to begin with! I do not care about the people who have written "positive reviews'. I am certain you are associated with this hell hole of a nightmare and that is one of the reasons you are anonymous. Anyone who would say anything positive about this place has an altered perception of reality or they are affiliated. On top of the staff abusing those dogs, then we have the disgusting excuses for humans that taped it and took pics and did NOTHING!!!!!! The world would be a better place without this place. The lack of empathy and the intense evil is outrageous! No one should trust this place because of what occurred and it was covered up for SO long!! If this shelter really cares about what happened there, they need to come out of the hole they are hiding in and speak to the public about what happened and what they did to bring the people who committed these acts of violence to justice. That would be a start and it has been confirmed that the dog that was bloody and beaten in the pics that where released is dead. This needs to be addressed and nothing about it will ever be excusable!!! The people that are in charge of this "shelter" need to step up and speak out. Until then, who ever did this needs to be held accountable. Who ever stood by and did nothing, they need to be held accountable. If not in this life, they...
