get a second opinion before you get work done! had someone come out & told me i needed a new furnace. i was told it wouldn’t stay on for more than 10-15 minutes at a time and that it was releasing carbon monoxide. i opted for the new furnace since the tech gave the whole “silent killer” spiel. so while he was gone picking up the furnace, my brother came over and turned on the furnace after i told him about what the tech said. when the tech returned, he told my brother “oh it might stay on overnight but after it does the cycle it’ll cut off” the tech came upstairs & said “i tried explaining to the guy downstairs but he’s not getting it so what do you want to do” in response to the new furnace. i said i was just going to wait & see since the furnace had been running well over the 15 minutes he told me & i really didn’t want to spend $2200 3 days before Christmas. my brother then came upstairs & asked where the tech went & i stated he left. he was shocked & said i just asked him if he could show me how he knew it was leaking carbon monoxide. of course he couldn’t because it wasn’t. this was 3 days before Christmas and they were about to scam me for no reason other than greed. i’m almost sure i paid $125 for him to press the open limit reset button and he was just turning the furnace on and off and told me it didn’t work. why else would you just leave when someone just wants to make sure the appliance really doesn’t work before buying a new one? well it still hasn’t gone out & i have a carbon monoxide detector that hasn’t...
Read moreWaste of $100. Jamar came out and looked at 2 things: my ducts and the temp of the air coming out of the vents and then told me it was the wifi thermostat. he told me it was 120 degrees coming out of the hot air vent and the return vents were 59 degrees. that temp difference is way too high and was tripping the hi limit switch. I even asked Jamar if that was too big a TD and he said "no it means your furnace is running good"
I called someone else who had me check the error codes and they confirmed it was the limit switch. likely from having some vents closed...Jamar looked at the closed vent in my basement and said everything was fine. I also had closed vents on the second floor that he didn't ask about or look at. He didn't even ask me about error codes. Insane to consider himself a professional. Call...
