If I could leave no star at all, I would! I have never experienced such insulting customer treatment EVER!! I am not a difficult customer at all, I am super polite and appreciative and very respectful of everyone. We started off in the cafe and the girl taking our order circled the wrong soup selection and when the soup came out it was wrong and we very politely asked if we could get the soup that we ordered, apologized because we didn't want to be difficult we were just really looking forward to the soup we had asked for . They brought the order form out to us and showed us what had been circled and accused us of making the mistake when ordering. Well I know for a fact that I did not make a mistake when ordering the pea soup over the meatball minestrone. Next we headed out to look at plants. Earlier this summer we had spent almost $1000.00 on plants while redoing the landscaping at our home and were planning on finishing next year. We had one plant that we bought from them earlier in the year, it's price was $29.99. The plant just never took off, we tried many things and figured we would just take it back to them to see what they could do and if we could just exchange it for another one. We kept all of our receipts like they said. When we arrived, a very nasty girl decided to take it upon herself to put us in our place and tell us how it was not their responsibility and that is not what the quote "guarantee" is for. Well ok, then what is it for exactly? The owner came out and literally told us that she would not give us a credit for the plant that it was somehow our fault that this one plant out of the hundreds that we bought from them died. Well I guess we must have done something right because we had two plants that came from them that were on the verge of death and we were able to bring them back to life with the same care that this one received. She literally insulted us over a $29.99 plant that I was not asking for a refund on, I simply wanted to exchange. So I guess the less than $15.00 that she spends on that plant is worth more to her than the thousands that we had spent there this summer and would have from here on out. I am a small-medium size business owner and if my customers are not happy I will do anything I can to fix that, even if it is at my own cost. I want my customers to be happy and to want to come back. Beyond that, it's just a question of simple respect. If you are from Portland, stay in Portland to buy your plants. If you are from Hood River, well then you know as many locals do here, that they don't give a crap about their customers at Not So Good News Gardening, and head off to Portland to buy...
Read moreI wanted to leave a big shout out to John at Good New Gardening. I needed 30 small herb plants for a rehearsal dinner I was planning long distance from TX for my son and daughter in law. I spoke with John over the phone about 6 months ago who said he would hold back 30 herbs for small pots I was using for the table centerpieces. We flew in and drove to this simply beautiful nursery to pick them up. The Staff were so so helpful and this nursery is top notch. We were able to simply pick up the plants John kept for us - they were the perfect addition to our Rehearsal dinner. It was so nice to be able to call John and do all of this sight unseen 6 months before our event!! What a pleasant and professional business to work with! When I visit Oregon again, there is no doubt we will drive up to Good News Nursery to try out their adorable cafe and browse around all of the beautiful plants they have. Thank you again for a seamless experience in your...
Read moreExcessively short warranty of only 3 days. I bought 5 fruit trees within 1 week and was unable to plant them all within the first three days of when I bought them. Approximately 1 week after purchasing, I noticed one of the trees had large quantities of earwigs and ants in the rootball under the surface and the tree was wilting significantly prior to planting. It was watered with about 1.5 gallons of water every day since purchasing (same as other trees). The manager was unwilling to do anything to help resolve the situation, and now I’m stuck trying to save a bug infested tree. All other four trees were watered the same amount, look great and had no bugs. I’m flabbergasted they won’t standby their products for any longer than three days. Organic nursery or not, it’s totally unacceptable to send customers home with bug infested plants and then do nothing about it just because they are a few days over the minuscule...
