Clean installation, no nickel and diming

Two disclosures.

1. I am a tough grader and have somewhat old fashioned expectations
2. I was offered a discount to write a "positive review" on google. I accepted. (I wish it was an offer to write an "honest review" instead). Why did I want security cameras vs. a security alarm system? I don't like security alarms. 4 times a day you have to remember to arm and disarm the system. If you forget to arm the system, it's useless. If you forget to disarm , you get a false alarm (your spouse and kids may yell at you).The good thing with cameras is that you don't have to remember to do anything. If setup correctly they just work.

Why I decided to hire professionals? At first I thought I'll get a Ring doorbell / floodlight cameras. But I got uncomfortable with wireless because:

1. they can get disconnected without any notice
2. the quality of footage is a lot weaker

Once I knew I wanted wired cameras, I knew I can’t put cables myself. COVID-19 ruined our vacation plans. I used the money on this camera system. My experience with CJSC

1. Front desk is very professional and eager to help. Quick to answer the phone, and quick to find answers
2. Bob (owner?) spoke with me on the phone first
3. On his visit Bob had a very professional and consultative approach. We discussed the number and placement of cameras. I had some doubt about placement, to which Bob’s suggestion was "Ask the installers to run temporary lines and show you the view from these different positions, and then you can decide".
4. The installation crew was a 3 person team. They were good. Their installation is clean, and it works. Few minor items they could've done better a) They had no interest in running temporary lines and showing me different angles. I don't blame them – extra work. My tip for Bob - take a wireless camera with you during the consultation to show different angles b) The team was very clear in letting me know that they don't install cameras on brick. Not a big deal, but I wish Bob had pointed that out c) I wish they wore masks when they were indoors (one or two eventually got the hint, but not all). They were in the house from 9 to almost 5. It was a long day d) Some strange off the cuff comments. E.g, to my request about camera placement on the front door "you should've gotten a ring doorbell". Or my questions about the graininess of the video on my TV, "you should buy a new TV. They're not that expensive" e) Old fashioned comments. I find it odd for contractors to take multiple personal calls while on a job. Not just "I'll call you back later". It was also the first time ever that someone working in my house addressed me as "dude". This one is completely my bad. Bob's quotes did not include any model information. I just assumed I'll get the cameras and NVR listed on their website. For example the website lists this model: LTN8608-P8 but I received: LTN6208-P8. I would recommend asking for model numbers in advance.

A note about network security Port forwarding: If you want to be able to see the video footage remotely (say phone, or work computer), you need to have your NVR or cameras visible to the outside world. The installers will go into your router and forward the appropriate ports for that to work. To keep your home network secure (weak network security means intruders can view your camera footage, or worse break into your home computers with sensitive data), you have 2 options

1. If remote viewing is not super critical to you, you can just delete the port forwarding rules. (Remember the cameras are useful as a deterrent and because they save evidence. Remote viewing doesn't help with either)
2. At the minimum, change the password to your NVR Internet Explorer within your LAN For security cameras the manufacturer (and installers) recommend using Internet Explorer. That’s a network security risk. For my own camera / NVR, Google Chrome works fine....

Central Jersey Security Team is amazing. I had them install Cameras at my home and you couldn't even tell they were here. They were respectful to the house, and to the property. At the end of their completion, they took the time to run through everything with me on the operation of the system. They answered all of my questions which shows that they are all well-educated on the products they are installing. It shows that their boss took the time and money to invest in their development of knowledge in order to better serve the customers and raise the bar to a higher standard. These aren't your typical guys that come in and go home and you are just another number. This is more like family oriented customer driven company who strives on customer service. Their staff is very friendly to talk to, and they are responsive within 24 hours. I have recommended them to friends and family and will continue too. The products that they offer are very good and do the job. If there is ever a problem, a simply phone call will do the job and if it can't be fixed via via or via their controlled monitoring system, somebody will be out to address the problem. The men that he has do the work defiantly represents his standards and is the reason why we will continue to use him for any of our needs in regards to Security Systems.

Update 12/3/18: I need a service call. I got out on the schedule within 24/48hrs. Bob and his team are fantastic. Tracy is a pleasure to communicate with and every staff member is knowledgeable and takes the time to explain in detail the work they are doing. His technicians are fantastic and respect your home.
