I am only regretfully posting this review publicly because I found no contact information online and your employee refused to give me any manager’s information. I am a frequent shopper at Village Market, shopping there almost once a day. I find that almost all of your employees are incredibly helpful with a terrific attitude, I feel welcomed and often encourage others to shop their when visiting Hull. I regret to inform you one of your employees is the complete antithesis of these values I’ve come to expect from your store. She is not only the rudest and most hostile employee in your store, but the most rude and hostile person I have ever encountered in the town of Hull. It seems as if she actively seeks out conflict, spewing vile hostility at any unfortunate customer that crosses her path. The other employee working this night informed me that they too have felt the brunt of this hateful rhetoric/attitude. I do not understand why this employee seems to have targeted me, as I treat all employees with the utmost respect, telling them thank you sir/ma’am with a smile on my face. I recently left the United States Army after serving active duty, I am instilled with the values to treat every employee I encounter with respect and gratitude. I only mention this because I am sure your employee will try to twist her story with wretched lies no doubt. She brings disgrace, dishonor, and great shame upon your proud and reputable brand. I returned home to inform my family about this puzzling behavior, only to discover she has harassed and belittled my aunt on numerous occasions, I wish I could say I was surprised by this. I would like to discuss these incidents further, to help you protect your brand and customers from this poor excuse of an employee. Said employee informed me she was the manager when I politely asked to speak with one, so I would like to speak with the general manager if this is true. Thank you for taking the time to read this review, and I hope we can move forward amicably and your employees detestable conduct can be curtailed before it harms your store’s reputation...
Read moreI've been coming to this establishment long before it was the village market. I am a 38 year old lifelong resident who shopped at the store basically once a day at least. Sometimes twice.
I haven't been into the store since last year. Before I stopped shopping there I overheard Cal a longtime employee complaining about people coming in a few minutes before they close and that there was no way he was going to stay a minute late.
The last two times I attempted to go to the store was at 8:50 p.m. when they close at 9:00 p.m. I only ever do that if I'm only grabbing one thing, which is how I overheard Cal complaining about customers coming in just before 9 pm when they close on one of my last trips into the store. The last two times I attemped to go to the store, I realized that they were locking the door at 8:50 pm and ignoring my knocks on the door. The last time I was in I actually saw Cal himself locking the door. I went back to my car and called him. He lied to me on the phone and said that someone else must have locked it and that maybe I shouldn't be coming in at 8:50 if that was the case. I reminded him of what time they actually close and what it says on their sign on the door. He started giving me a real attitude at that point, I told him I won't be come in anymore. And went to the gas station instead. I noticed him at the pump when I was leaving the gas station and he was giving me a dirty look as I was walking to my car.
Still not sure what I did to deserve that dirty look or the attitude I got on the phone, when their sign says they are open until 9:00 p.m.
I guess being a long time customer doesn't get you much these days.
I won't be going to this...
Read moreThe only complaint I have is this: On Monday, October 15 I went to the market to buy onions which were advertised in the flyer to be on sale this week. Well, the place they should have been was empty, so I asked one of the men who were nearby if they had any. He was very helpful, went to find out, came back and said they were expecting a delivery momentarily. Well, I thanked him and went on to continue shopping. I decided to come back on Tuesday, October 16, which I did and found the onions. I went on to the Deli section to buy some Land o Lakes 4 cheese Italian cheese. The young man behind the counter was very attentive and looked everywhere (back room, front case, etc) but could not find any. He told me they didn't have any. These items were both in the weekly flyer, and should be available, especially by Tuesday when the advertised items should have been available as advertised.
Love this market and go there at least 2 times a week, but I am losing interest if I cannot find items I need. I know a small market cannot be expected to stock everything, but at least they should have their advertised items.
Please pay attention, customers depend on it. Thank you, Joanne...
