Hitchin' Post Truck Terminal (Exxon) — Local services in Huntsville

Okay this is kind of long, but they deserve more than 5 stars in my book!! About three years ago I was hitchhiking away from a really terrible relationship. I had actually ended up at the truck stop across the street first. The lady that was working that night took me over to thus truck stop because she knew the owners and it was a safe place for me to tell her why I was hitchhiking alone. The staff and owner were some of the nicest people I have ever met in my life! They allowed me to basically sleep in one of their booths for almost three days, not only that but also fed me three times a day without me even asking and never made me pay a dime. I was and still am incredibly grateful for their kindness at a time when I thought I had nothing and no one to help me escape my abuser. Plus the food was amazing. Home cooked goodness! I've only stopped here twice, and gave it the second chance after a few years to see if it had changed. Signs on restroom stall request user to discard used toilet paper in trash instead of flushing (health hazard there). Parking lot needs serious attention as it's gravel and full of potholes. Several dropped trailers with no organization as to any specific section should be used for dropping a trailer. Two stars because the c-store and the restroom were clean, and the cashier was polite. Otherwise, I would have only given 1. If I had the HOS, I would've gone farther, but this was it and I wasn't about to fight to get into a spot on the other side of the highway. So not a bad experience overall, just disappointed that they have let some things degrade so badly. And then there's the T.P. issue.... Adrian Monk would have an OCD...

Friendly clerks, clean establishment, very clean bathrooms, very nice showers (the shower stall was a little smaller than other truck stops, but the water pressure was alot better than most !), there was parking for about 30-40 trucks and the lot was clean and quiet. The store carries plenty of snacks & beverages and a few ready made foods in the cooler. There's a little Mexican restaurant next door that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A driver at another truck stop the night before, told my husband about the Hitchin' Post. We will absolutely come back anytime that we're in the area. I would've given 5 stars if there would've been an outlet available for my blow dryer after...
