Dollar General — Local services in Huron Township

I really want to like this place because I work so close by, but this store is one of the messiest Dollar Generals in my area. Racks of incoming shipments block the aisles, items are disheveled on the shelves, and aisles aren’t organized in an intuitive way (home decor like frames and storage bins are separated from laundry items like baskets and hangers by a couple aisles and if you want kitchen items like bowls and utensils then you have to walk to the other side of the store past pet food and supplies. “Like” departments are not grouped together. Who organized this?!?) I’ve also seen a young man FaceTiming with his friend while he worked the register as if it’s appropriate to multitask like that on the job, and some choice words came out of his mouth that were far from professional. This was months ago though and I haven’t seen him lately... I wonder why? No wonder this store is struggling (new hours are posted “to avoid store closing”.) I would be happy to see someone take the initiative to clean this store up a bit... maybe it would...

I visited this store a couple of days ago. The doors were kept open the whole time that I was in there. When I entered the store, it reeked of cigarette smoke and it was very cluttered. The workers were yelling back and forth to the other workers. They weren't fighting, just having discussions across the store. It felt like I was at a sporting event. At one point, they were talking about a male employee who they didn't like because he over stocks and puts things in the wrong place. The parking lot was filled with trash. I don’t go into DG often, but I’ve lived and been all over the country and most DG stores I go in are at least acceptable enough to shop. This place was disgusting. Filthy. So disorganized. Boxes everywhere, so it is extremely difficult to navigate the aisles. Merchandise all strewn about. It honestly looked like a tornado touched down and destroyed the store.
