This is a long overdue review for Extra Space Storage Manager Neil. Right from the beginning with my first inquiry which included many questions over a number of phone calls, Neil immediately and consistently followed up and could not have been more accommodating to the extent of both he and his peer Tyler extending my reservation until my customized lock was delivered to me from a company specializing in manufacturing high security locks and all of its components based in the US. (Note that Extra Storage also sells locks). Neil gave me a tour of the facility and the different sized storage units of interest to me, which was very helpful in coming to a final decision on the right size unit to best accommodate my needs. Neil also negotiated a good prepay price for me as I desired to lock in on a price for at least four months, under a prepayment agreement. For the age of the building and the units, they are well kept and maintained by Neil as well as the front office. Let's face it, there isn't much difference between storage facilities. Most offer similar services and the prices differences are negligible. So the real consideration is customer service. Madonna at ESS in Hackettstown has a gift for delivering the best possible customer service without breaking company rules. She used to work at the Hopatcong location where I once shared a unit with my ex-husband. Madonna worked with me when I was left in a difficult position. After several years of being a faithful customer, and recommending the facility to friends I fell behind in payments following a severe car accident. I called Madonna to ask her to explain my options as the current manager had "done all he could for me". She took the time to explain what happens during the eviction/auction process, then told me of a Pay to Vacate option that the upper management might extend to me. She took her time to call and speak to them on my behalf, followed up with me and advised the current office manager at Hopatcong of this plan. I spent a lot of time researching storage space companies, and I opted to use Extra Space Storage for three reasons: 1) Their online reviews are outstanding; 2) the facility is local; and 3) the price is very reasonable.

After two different unit rentals, I can say unequivocally that they deserve all the accolades that are coming their way. The building is very clean and well-maintained. The units are also monitored which provides me with a measure of reassurance.

The customer support is also second to none. Carlos is knowledgeable about all company policies and procedures, and does an excellent job clearly and patiently answering all questions.

Without even asking, he gave me a brief tour of the facility as I reacquainted myself with unit location. On another occasion, he volunteered to help me carry a number of boxes, newsprint packing paper, and other items to the car.

His friendly and courteous demeanor also had an impact on my young son who said out loud, "He's very nice." My son is perceptive.
