Chenal Thrift Store — Local services in Independence

I had to drop my rating a star because I've stopped two other times during the posted hours and they were closed. Not even a sign on the door to explain the early closure. It's become pretty frustrating and makes me less willing to make the trip there when there's a 50% chance they'll just be closed.

A hidden gem. The store is packed with treasures. If you enjoy the hunt of finding unique finds like I do, this is the place for you. If you prefer the more spaced out layout of a goodwill, this might not be your jam. Prices already start out extremely fair, but nearly everything is half off leading to some absolute steals! All clothing is $1 and it's easy to walk away with an armful of goodies. Staff is extremely polite and personable. They'll even help you carry things out to your car. You really shouldn't miss this store if you enjoy thrifting in Independence.

A couple not awesome points: there's no public restroom or changing room to try on the clothing. Some of the items in the breakable section of the store are so closely packed that I felt like I was doing a Mission Impossible stunt to step around them without breaking anything. If you have children or are particularly girthy, you might want to avoid this section of the store. It's also strangely cold in the far section (though I've only gone in the winter). I've stopped by 5 times now always during store hours, but they've only been open 3 of those 5 times. I'm hoping that if they get an online presence, they will be able to post when they'll be closed during store hours and it will make it easier to plan your trip.

Despite the not awesome points, you'd be foolish to miss out...

I am a regular at this hidden gem… you won’t be disappointed browsing the shelves here. The potential this shop has for becoming a leading thrift store in Kansas City is remarkable I hope these kind reviews get shared and seen so everyone else knows this place is here!

The owners are such great folks. Extremely kind and helpful and I hope they are blessed from head to toe for sharing their awesome store with the rest of us. Go check it out and make sure to take a friend I promise this is the best kept...

The staff is friendly. Clothes and shoes are very reasonably priced. Everything else is priced pretty high. The place is packed, some spots you have to stop and turn around because you can't walk through. I like the place, but it's just overwhelming every time I've gone in there. There's too much stuff. Thin it out, display it properly! Not many people want to dig through...
